Real Madrid took an excellent and hard-fought victory over Rayo Vallecano. Like many times this season, with a goal from Karim Benzema near the end of the game; thanks to a pass from Vinicius. Earlier, Real Madrid’s Belgian goalkeeper, Courtois, sustained the team with several saves, most notably one from a Mario Suarez header. Marco Asensio was Madrid’s best attacker in the first half; but former Real Madrid goalkeeper and son of Zinedine Zidane, Luca Zidane, stopped all his shots.
Both teams started with everything; their main figures on the field left everything to get 3 important points for their aspirations in this part of the season.
Real Madrid began the game with the mission of crushing Rayo Vallecano at home. In minute 1, Luca Zidane began to be the protagonist, blocking Asensio’s first scoring chance.
Four minutes later, Asensio set off the alarm again in the Rayo Vallecano area, after a pass from Benzema that could not beat Zidane, so the personal duel was in favor of the Rayo Vallecano’s goalkeeper.
Both teams pressed up high and this caused the defenses to make mistakes at the start; which caused us to watch a very exciting game thanks to the fact that there were many chances to score.
At minute 38, Casemiro would have scored the first goal for his team. However, after checking the VAR, the referee invalidated the play due to an offside by the Brazilian.
Real Madrid finished the first half of the match by attacking Rayo Vallecano from all sides, but Luca Zidane avoided each of the scoring opportunities they had. Thus, the first half ended with a 0-0.
Second Half
The second half of the match began in the same vein as the first half, with Real Madrid attacking from all areas of the pitch, while Rayo Vallecano took advantage of every mistake made by the Real Madrid defense to approach Courtois’s goal.
It wasn’t until the 83rd minute that Vinicius Jr. made a very good play that later ended in an excellent assist for Karim Benzema and he, in turn, scored the first and only goal of the game.
Finally, Real Madrid managed to get a very disputed and complicated victory in Vallecas, with Courtois as one of its main figures preventing Rayo Vallecano from scoring goals on different occasions and, with Marco Asensio playing at his highest competitive level.
