As we had predicted, Tottenham got off to a good start in the 2022-23 season with the clear objective of dethroning Manchester City.

Spurs were surprised by Southampton at the start of the match when in the 12th minute James Ward-Prowse scored his team’s first (and only) goal. This goal woke up Spurs, and in such a way, that in the 21st minute they managed to equalize thanks to Ryan Sessegnon’s goal. Only 10 minutes later, Tottenham was already ahead on the scoreboard thanks to Eric Dier.

As the match progressed, Tottenham took more and more control of the ball. In the 61st minute, after incessant attacks, they got on the scoresheet again thanks to an own-goal scored by Mohammed Salisu.

Two minutes later, Dejan Kulusevski scored the last goal of the match to put the game to bed.

With this result, Tottenham moved into first place in the standings thanks to a goal difference of +3. Southampton, meanwhile, moved to the last place

Another of the great candidates to fight for the title of Premier League championsChelsea, started their way in this season with an excellent victory with a score of 1-0, as visitors, against an Everton that managed to withstand many onslaughts.

By insistence in the first half, rather than clarity, runaway and chances, Chelsea solved their logjam against Everton by a penalty goal on the brink of halftime from Jorginho and two saves from Édouard Mendy.

The goal relieved Chelsea, who had missed several chances to score earlier, such as Sterling’s disallowed goal on a Pickford miss with the attacker’s being in an offside position, apart from a dozen corners, but was also given a scare by Tarkowski’s earlier header that Mendy flew in with supreme agility.

In the second half, the game went back and forth until Everton began to pull their lines back and defend to avoid another goalmouth scare

Result: Chelsea (1) – (0) Everton

The reigning Premier League championsManchester City, began to suffer in the first five minutes with a couple of dangerous arrivals down the West Ham flanks. As time went on, however, the visitors began to gain possession of the ball and attack through Jack Grealish’s sector to find a precise cross for the Norwegian Erling Haaland.

The formula came close to paying off after 20 minutes, albeit on the opposite flank when Phil Foden picked up the ball near the box and set up Haaland, who arrived at the near post with pace but missed the target by inches.

Manchester City’s insistence on attacking in search of a goal paid off in the 36th minute when Haaland was fouled in the box, with the referee awarding the penalty, and the Norwegian himself gave his new team the lead in this match.

In the second half, West Ham came out determined to take the lead in the match and equalize at home, but thanks to an excellent through ball from Kevin De Bruyne to Haaland in the 65th minute, they managed to score the final 2-0 to give them the peace of mind to start this new Premier League season with 3 points.

Result: Manchester City (2) – (0) West Ham

What looked like an easy start for a team that came from crushing Manchester City last weekend, turned out to be a nightmare for Liverpool. The team coached by Jürgen Klopp had an extremely uncomfortable match and could not get beyond 2-2 on the scoreboard.

The start of the match was marked by a Fulham that was on top of their game. With stupendous pressing in three quarters, closing the spaces inside to prevent Fabinho and Thiago from connecting with the possession game, they prevented Van Dijk and Matip from initiating the moves judiciously.

With few chances on either side, the goal came from Mitrovic’s header, which beat Alexander-Arnold in the 33rd minute. After the introduction of Liverpool’s new signing, Uruguayan Darwin Nuñez, the Reds began to look more solid on the pitch and, thanks to a pass from Salah in the 64th minute, Nuñez scored the first goal of his team and his first in the Premier League to level the score.

Eight minutes later, Fulham was on top after a penalty converted by Mitrovic. In the 80th minute, taking advantage of a not very good control by Darwin. Salah managed to equalize the score and put definitive figures to this match.

Result: Liverpool (2) – (2) Fulham
