The fight for the Premier League is still intense and Arsenal and Manchester City are not giving up, while deep down things are also tightening.
Arsenal seem to be running out of gas, but they are managing to get games going. This weekend they had a very tough test with Leicester and managed to win 1-0 away with a goal from Gabriel Martinelli just at the beginning the second half. The Gunners are first with 57 points, 2 more than City and with one game less. For their part, the Foxes are only 3 points above relegation.
Fulham missed a great opportunity this Friday when they drew at home with Wolverhampton, who are fighting not to be relegated. It was 1-1 with goals from Manor Salomon (F) and Pablo Sarabia (W). The Cottagers are sixth with 39 points, while the Wolves are 15th with 24, just three points above relegation.
Everton could not at home and fell 0-2 with Aston Villa, so they return to relegation places and are worried, while the Villains remain in the middle of the table. Ollie Watkins (from a penalty kick) and Emiliano Buendía scored for Unai Emery’s men.
Two teams that came out of relegation this weekend were West Ham and Leeds. On the sides of the Hammers, they defeated Nottingham Forest 4-0 with a brace from Danny Ings and goals from Declan Rice and Michail Antonio, while the Peacocks did the same against Southampton with a solitary goal from Junior Firpo. West Ham is now 16th with 23 points, Leeds is 17th with 22 and Southampton remain last with 18, but they are dreaming of salvation. Nottingham is calmer in 13th with 25.
Two games were postponed because Manchester United and Newcastle played the EFL Cup final on Sunday, which the Red Devils won 2-0. Erik ten Hag’s men will play against Brentford while the Magpies will face Brighton in April for the Premier League.
