Football in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will be played in 6 stadiums in the different cities that are organizing this championship, Tokyo, Yokohama, Saitama, Kashima, Sapporo, and Rifu. The world’s greatest sporting event will start July 21 and end August 7, 2021.


As is customary in the Olympic Games, the men’s soccer teams will have an under-23 player base, that is, players born on or after January 1, 1997, but they can add 3 players over this age to their squad.

However, many of the best Footballers within the age group will not go to the tournament because this International Olympic Committee competition is not considered official by FIFA. Clubs throughout the world are not obliged to release their players.

The Brazilian Soccer Confederation found many obstacles when it came to convincing the different teams to dispense their young stars. Therefore, the final list of those called up will not have important names such as Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr. Neymar Jr Marquiños, etc.

The good news is that the Brazilian coach for the OlympicsAndré Jardine, managed to include the Everton striker in the list who just played the final of the Copa America for BrazilRicharlison joins veteran Dani Alves, who, at 38, is considered a fundamental pillar for the selection of young people who make up their team.

The Brazilian national team will debut at the Olympic Games on July 22, 2021, in Yokohama, against the German national team.  The rivals won in the final of the last Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro. Completing their matches in Group D, they will face Cote Divoire in Yokohama on July 25 and Saudi Arabia in Saitama on July 28.
