Soccer in the United States does not stop and this weekend the MLS week 5 will be played, which continues with a surprising leader.

New England Revolution has been another of the surprises in this start and wants to continue fighting at the top of the Eastern Conference, but DC United wants to get in the way.

It hasn’t been a good start to the season for Real Salt Lake. Although they won in their debut against the Vancouver Whitecaps (1-2), they later suffered defeats versus the Seattle Sounders (2-0) and Austin FC (1-2), the latter at home. Two of their three goals have been scored by their central defender Justen Glad, which shows that the team’s offense has not been very good. Brian Ojeda (Paraguay), Rubio Rubín (Guatemala), and Diego Luna (U-20 USA) were called up to their National Team and will not be eligible this weekend.

If someone said that Saint Louis City SC was going to be the leader of the tournament after 4 games and that they were going to win them all, very few would have believed it. The MLS rookie has defeated Austin FC and Portland Timbers as visitors, and Charlotte FC and San José Earthquakes at home, also with the latter, last weekend, they achieved the first clean sheet in their history. It is the team that has scored the most goals with 11 and the Brazilian Joao Klauss and the German Eduard Löwen have shown a great level. The Canadian Kyle Hiebert, of great performance, will be with the National Team.

Real Salt Lake vs. Saint Louis City SC Betting Pick: Saint Louis City SC

Columbus Crew is one of the teams that has surprised everyone, but negatively. The team that won the first “Covid tournament” in 2020 has been awful ever since, always failing to qualify for the postseason. Even if you consider that title as a fluke due to the circumstances, it keeps being remarkable. They have 2 losses, 1 draw, and 1 victory in 2023, occupying 12th place in the Eastern Conference. They have conceded 7 goals, being one of the worst defenses in the championship. Lucas Zelarayán, the goalscorer (2) and figure of the team, is with the Armenian national team, the defender Milos Degenek is with the Australian National Team, and the goalkeeper Eloy Room with the Curaçao National Team, so there will be three very important casualties. They are joined by Kevin Molino, injured.

Atlanta United is undefeated. With 3 wins and 1 draw, the team is the leader of the Eastern Conference with 11 goals. Last weekend they crushed the Portland Timbers 5-1 and have scored 8 goals in their last 2 games. Thiago Almada is being the best player in the tournament with 4 goals and 4 assists; however, the Argentine is playing with his National Team (and already scored this Thursday) so he won’t be eligible this Saturday. In addition to Almada, Luis Abram (Peru), Miles Robinson (USA), Derrick Etienne Junior (Haiti), Machop Chol (South Sudan), Ronald Hernández (Venezuela) and Giorgos Giakoumakis (Greece) will be playing for their countries.

Columbus Crew vs. Atlanta United Betting Pick: Atlanta United

MLS Weekly Preview 5: DC United vs. New England Revolution

When:

Saturday, March 25 at 6:30 pm ET at Audi Field

Moneyline odds:

DC United +123

New England Revolution +216

Draw Offs:

DC United started very well, beating Toronto 3-2, but then stagnated. They lost to Columbus Crew, New York City FC, and drew against Orlando City SC, so they have to get back to winning ways at home. Christian Benteke, who scored 3 goals in the preseason, has 2 at the start of the tournament and is beginning to give the team revenue. Victor Pálsson is playing with the Finnish National Team, but the Englishman Lewis O’Brien has already arrived on loan from Nottingham Forest and could make his debut.

New England Revolution is one of the pleasant surprises of the championship. They have 3 victories against Charlotte FC (0-1), Houston Dynamo (3-0), and Nashville SC (1-0), but also a resounding loss versus Los Angeles FC (4-0). Among the positive aspects of the team is that it is very balanced, with good players in all lines that perform equally, and as a curiosity, we see that in the first 4 games, only 1 team has scored. Dylan Borrero (Colombia) and Christian Makoun (Venezuela) will be absent this Saturday for games with their National Team.

MLS Weekly Preview 5: Los Angeles FC vs. FC Dallas

Moneyline odds:

Los Angeles FC -173

FC Dallas +450

Draw Offs:

Los Angeles FC is one of the five undefeated in the tournament and is second in the Western Conference, despite having a game suspended against the Los Angeles Galaxy. At home, they achieved two consecutive victories, but last weekend in their first away game, they drew 0-0 with the Seattle Sounders. Denil Maldonado (Honduras), José Cifuentes (Ecuador), Diego Palacios (Ecuador), and Denis Bouanga (Gabon) are with their National Team.

FC Dallas has 3 games without defeat with 2 victories, both at home, so now it will try to get the first away, something it hasn’t done since last September 3. Jesús Ferreira has scored 3 goals and tied Landon Donovan for third place in the table of most goal contributions by a player aged 22 or younger in MLS history (61). Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Paes was the star last weekend, saving Erik Thommy’s penalty twice. They have never been able to win at the home of Los Angeles FC.

Los Angeles FC vs. FC Dallas Betting Pick: Los Angeles FC
