Cincinnati had a chance to move into first place in the MLS Eastern Conference, but the possibility of obtaining the lead at home went away with a 0-2 loss to Nashville.

It was a flurry from the visitors to take the win. First, it was Jack Maher who headed in Hany Mukhtar’s side-footed shot (24′). Five minutes later, Jacob Shaffelburg scored his second with a nice shot to the goalkeeper’s right post.

The Blue and Orange could not find a way to at least get a point, so they remain second with 33 points, one behind Inter Miami. Nashville moved up to ninth place in the wild card zone with 19 units.

For the visitors, Saba Lobjanidze scored twice. The first in the 43rd minute with a mid-range shot and the second by the same means, but in the 58th minute. Lionel Messi scored at 61′ with a low shot from outside the area, very similar to the goal he scored against Mexico in the last World Cup. The third conversion came from Jamal Thiare when he pushed in Caleb Wiley’s cross from the left.

Despite the loss, Inter maintained their first place in the Eastern Conference and MLS with 34 points, while Atlanta finally returned to winning ways, finishing 12th with 16. It was Messi’s first league defeat of the season.

The Big Apple team is fourth with 26 points, and Charlotte is seventh with 22.

LA Galaxy did not give way to surprises and overcame Dallas 3-1 at home, which continued with its irregular 2024.

Dejan Joveljic scored the first goal in the 4th minute after only pushing a pass from Gabriel Pec. Although Patrickson Delgado equalized at 22′, Joveljic himself celebrated his second from the penalty spot. Spain’s Riqui Puig scored with a great individual play in the 90+4′.

Los Angeles is second in the West with 28 points, while Dallas is in a pitiful twelfth place with 13.
