Last Updated on September 19, 2022 5:55 pm by Erwin Noguera

The 15th matchday of the regular phase of the Liga MX Opening Tournament has already ended and only 1 matchday remains to be played, so we already know some teams that have already qualified directly to the quarterfinals of the next Liguilla, as well as those that will go to the playoffs and, finally, the teams that have been eliminated from the tournament.

We begin with América who, after another victory, has ensured that it will be at least among the first three places in the standings, whatever happens on the last matchday. That is to say, they have already qualified for the Liguilla.

They are followed by Monterrey and Pachuca who, with their victories on the previous matchday, also sealed their direct ticket to the quarterfinals of the Liguilla and only need to find out in which position they will finish the regular season. Santos, meanwhile, must earn at least one point to secure the fourth and final place that grants a direct ticket to the next stage of the tournament.

In the playoff zone, we have a great dispute that will last until this last matchday, since Puebla, San Luis, Necaxa, Juárez, Mazatlán, Tijuana and Pumas still have the opportunity to be in or out of the playoff zone and must play what would be a final for them on the following matchday.

Finally, after the results of Matchday 15, Atlas and Querétaro are already out of the playoffs.

Liga MX Matchday 15 – Roundup – Guadalajara vs. América

When: Saturday, September 17 at 09:00 pm ET

Moneyline odds: América -136 / Guadalajara +270 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Draw Offs: +191

The greatness of a team is backed up with facts and, in this sense, it was América who beat Guadalajara on matchday 15 of the Liga MX Opening Tournament 2022, with a score of 2-1.

Just at the beginning of the match, a lack of concentration by Luis Olivas allowed América to open the scoreboard, as a bad tackle by the Chivas defender led to a penalty kick in favor of Las Águilas, which was successfully scored by Henry Martín.

The first half ended with this result, and it was not until the 51st minute when Alejandro Zendejas extended the score that Guadalajara was at its best in the match.

Likewise, 11 minutes later, Chivas managed to score the equalizer thanks to a goal scored by Cristian Calderón, who had just entered the field of play.

Fernando Ortiz’s América is the championship leader with 35 points; part of the Aguilas’ success in the Apertura 2022 is due to their fearsome offense, which with 36 goals is the highest scoring team in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Chivas de Guadalajara is resigned to the playoffs and is currently in seventh place in the table.

Result: Guadalajara (1) – (2) América

Liga MX Matchday 15 – Roundup – Monterrey vs. Atlas

When: Saturday, September 17 at 08:05 pm ET

Moneyline odds: Monterrey -136 / Atlas +270 (Source: MyBookie.ag)

Draw Offs: +310

Monterrey has not taken its foot off the gas in this final stretch of the regular season of the Liga MX Opening Tournament and defeated two-time champion Atlas to continue fighting with América for first place in the overall standings.

Rayados sought to impose conditions in the first half. However, Atlas’ good defense, which they had not shown before in this championship, prevented all their dangerous approaches.

After going to the break with a 0-0 score, Monterrey did not hold back its attack in the second half; many arrivals to the Atlas goal that did not end in goals, finally did in the 77th minute, when the Chilean Sebastián Vegas scored the first goal for the local team.

The locals unleashed their attacking potential and in the 83rd minute extended their lead with a goal by Jesús Gallardo, who celebrated his call-up to the Mexican National Team coached by Tata Martino.

With this result, Monterrey remains in second place in the table, 1 point behind América, while Atlas, already eliminated from this tournament, must now start thinking about the Clausura.

Result: Monterrey (2) – (0) Atlas
