Club América vs. Pachuca: Liguilla Quarterfinals Preview

Copa America 2024

Last Updated on May 10, 2024 4:09 pm by Erwin Noguera

The Liguilla’s quarterfinals second legs are right upon us, as Club América hosts Pachuca in the first match to settle the score and see who will reach the semifinals.

The first leg was hosted by the Tuzos, ending in a draw by a single goal for each team. Now, there is less margin of error for both teams, although América has the upper hand due to the Liga MX tie-breaker rules.

Now, we are eager to see this banger of a match as we start the quarterfinals’ second leg with the best teams of the Clausura MX 2024.

When:

Saturday, May 11, 8:00 pm ET at the Estadio Azteca

Moneyline odds:

Club América 1.74

Pachuca 4.06

Draw Offs:

4.1

Where can I watch it?

TUDN USA

Why Bet on Club América?

América managed to keep things even as the visitors during the clash at the Hidalgo Stadium. They were dominated for most of the first half, and Pachuca’s goal by Salomon Rondon confirmed their momentum early. However, Henry Martin got the equalizer just in time to end the first half on a positive note.

The Eagles reach the Liguilla as the first seeded, following their ten wins, five draws, and two losses record. They were the team with the least defeats in the regular season and got the highest goal differential on the board (18). The only stain in an otherwise excellent season was their elimination in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, precisely at the hands of Pachuca.

They’ll probably show a more aggressive approach in front of their fans and will be eager to get revenge quickly against the Tuzos.

Why Bet on Pachuca?

Pachuca had their best shot at home in the first leg, and things were looking promising with their early advantage and their aggressive approach. However, their defense let them down again.

Their remarkable offense let them end the season as the second-best attack with 34 goals. However, the defense was below part, conceding 27 times and being the worst inside the top eight of the table. It was a regular occurrence during the first phase to see this team win a match by 3-2, just to lose the next one by the same score. Although, for the spectacle and the neutrals it was excellent, the same can’t be said for the team.

The positive thing for this club is that their heroics against the Eagles in the Champions Cup semis are still fresh in the memory, so they’ll want to repeat and improve the formula and reapply the dose. The problem is that, on that occasion, they closed the series at home.

Final Betting Analysis: Club América vs. Pachuca

This second leg is the only one where the teams will start tied on the aggregate score. However, as we said before, if this result is sustained, América will advance due to its higher position in the Liga MX.

Pachuca has already reached the continental competition final, so their campaign will be labeled as positive, no matter the result. Now, we have to point out that the Tuzos’ best shot was at home in the first leg, and now that the Eagles will be hosting at the Azteca, things are looking slightly grim for them.

Our pick is on América to land a victory here and to become the first team to get to the semifinals after a comfortable 3-1.

Go for a victory for the locals at 1.74. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $74 for a total payout of $174.
