Club América vs. Chivas: Liguilla Semifinals Preview

Copa America 2024

Last Updated on May 17, 2024 4:31 pm by Erwin Noguera

We are entering the 2nd leg of the Clausura MX 2024 semifinals after the two 1st leg matches delivered somewhat dull spectacles. We only enjoyed one goal, but now, with the error margin reduced to zero, we expect much more emotion.

Right now, we focus on the 2nd part of the Clásico de Clásicos, with Club América and Chivas facing at the Estadio Azteca for one last dance between them this season.

Everything is, pretty much, on the air, so we expect the next chapter of this historic rivalry to be full of emotions.

When:

Saturday, May 18, at 10:00 pm ET at the Azteca Stadium

Why Bet on Club América?

Club América managed to survive an aggressive Chivas at home, but the team had the ball the longestand was moving around the field with ease. However, they didn’t focus on attacking as much and kept things easy for their opponents in the first leg.

The Eagles defended with the ball in Guadalajara (56% of possession), so it is clear that they intend to give a hit of authority at the Azteca. They were successful in getting on the nerves of the locals in the last match, as the Rebaño had up to 17 shots but only five on target.

Either way, even if they have had great paternity over Chivas in recent times, they should be careful, as the painful elimination at the hands of their rivals in the first semester of 2023 is still in the memory.

Why Bet on Chivas?

Chivas was shooting a lot on their game as hosts, having shot almost three times as much as America did, but not being nearly as accurate on their shots on target. While they may have been aggressive, they were not effective, and that lost them any chances of taking a lead when they had the ball at home.

The Rebaño looked desperate to reach the second leg with an advantage, knowing the difficulties of beating their rivals in the capital. However, they are still on track and have a weapon of use in this duel: their great defense. They have received zero goals in the Liguilla and only two in their most recent ten matches, both in the same game against Puebla.

Either way, another 0-0 tie will not only be for the distaste of the fans and neutrals, but it would also take them out as the Eagles finished higher in the table. They need to score.

Final Betting Analysis: Club América vs. Chivas

Chivas did come into the first leg trying to prove themselves as world beaters, coming in from great momentum at the end of their regular season, and having dealt well with Toluca during the quarterfinals. However, their aggressive output on the first leg was careless and ineffective.

That careless run they tried at home will not be nearly enough as they play as visitors, and Club América has been looking the best in front of their home crowd, so we are expecting them to not only get the highest possession once again but think that we will see an active América making and taking the opportunities to score.

We believe this will be the end of the line for Guadalajara after a 2-0 win for the locals.

Go for a victory for the Cremas at 1.79. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $79 for a total payout of $179.
