The first legs of the quarterfinals of the Liguilla are history and had several surprises, but only one of the series has its destiny, much likely, written in stone.

Let’s start with the tournament leader, Monterrey, who visited Santos Laguna and it was expected to be a very good game, but it was boring and they drew 0-0.
Those from Torreón had just eliminated Pachuca on penalties after drawing 4-4 as visitors, and now at home, they needed to make a favorable difference to travel to Monterrey on the weekend. Pablo Repetto’s team tried but couldn’t get past the visitors’ defense, which was very secure, and they had no clear chances to score.
For their part, although Víctor Vucetich’s team did their task, which was to not lose in La Comarca, much more was expected of them. Now at home, they will have to go out and overwhelm, but it is expected that Santos will now be the one to protect themselves and go out to look for a counterattack goal.

In the other duel on Wednesday, América showed that it is going to fight for the title and easily defeated Atlético de San Luis 1-3 as a visitor. Jonathan Rodríguez, Diego Valdés, and Leonardo Suárez (with a clear rebound in Unai Bilbao that changed the trajectory of the ball) scored for the Águilas, while Léo Bonatini discounted for the Rojiblancos, and all the goals were in the first half.
Fernando Ortiz’s team was vastly superior to its rival and surely they will have no problems at Azteca to defend the result, although they will not be able to count on Israel Reyes, who was sent off, and Henry Martín was injured after 73 minutes and it will be doubted.
For its part, San Luis, who surprised everyone by beating and eliminating León as a visitor (1-3) in the previous phase, will have to win by a difference of 3 goals to advance. We believe that the team has fulfilled the expectations getting this far.
Liguilla Quarterfinals: Atlas 1-0 Chivas

Chivas +206
Atlas +136

Where Can I Watch?
On Thursday we started the day with the Clásico Tapatío and Atlas was the winner (1-0) in what we could say was a Colombian night. The Zorros get motivated when they face Chivas and this time was no exception in a game with great emotions.
Guadalajara started better and was able to go ahead on the scoreboard after half an hour, but Colombian Camilo Vargas saved Víctor Guzmán’s penalty, proving that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the league. Minutes later, at 42′, a very long serve by Vargas was headed down by Julio Furch and Julián Quiñones hit the ball hard with his right foot to make it 1-0. It is the Colombian’s 13th goal in the tournament and he is second in the scoring table behind Henry Martín (14).
It was a good game, very even, where Vargas had up to 7 saves so that Atlas could take 1 goal difference, but they will need another great game in the Akron Stadium because the sporting advantage belongs to Chivas.
Liguilla Quarterfinals: Tigres 4-1 Toluca
When:
Thursday, May 11th – 11:10 pm ET at the Universitario Stadium
Moneyline odds:
Tigres -103
Toluca +265
Draw offs:

Where Can I Watch?
At the end of the day, Tigres surprised in a big way and crushed Toluca 4-1. Robert Siboldi’s team had not been playing very well and had barely been able to beat Puebla 1-0 in the previous round, so it was not expected that they would have such superiority in this match.
Despite the result, it was Toluca who started the best, scoring the first goal after 8 minutes with a free kick under the wall by Leonardo Fernández, a specialist in this. The Incomparables reacted before the end of the first half and Sebastián Córdova in collective action, André-Pierre Gignac with a penalty, and Juan Vigón in an individual play with a bit of luck due to the rebounds turned the game around and went into halftime winning 3-1.
In the second half, Nico López took advantage of a rebound from the goalkeeper to score 4-1 and give the Diablos Rojos the final blow, who will have to win 3-0 at Nemesio Diez if they want to advance to the semifinals.
Second Leg Quarterfinals
- Monterrey vs. Santos Laguna (Saturday)
- América vs. Atlético de San Luis (Saturday)
