Matchday 7 of the Liga MX Apertura 2023 tournament is history, and after an action-packed weekend, we continue to see Atlético San Luis leading the standings with their fifth consecutive victory.
Tigres won their second game in a row to move into second place in the table, equal on 14 points with Juárez. Chivas de Guadalajara fell for the second time in a row and, as a result, dropped to fourth place in the table.
In fifth and sixth place, we have Toluca and América, respectively, who continue to add points day after day to get dangerously close to the top of the table.
Finally, at the bottom of the table, we still have Necaxa, Cruz Azul, and Tijuana, which have not been able to demonstrate a high level of play in these first 7 rounds of the tournament. As a result, these teams must react if they do not want to say goodbye very soon to their chances of advancing to the Playoffs.

Both teams started this tournament with a great pace of play, especially Chivas Guadalajara, who led the table for several matchdays. However, in this match against Monterrey, they could not play at their best and ended up losing for the second consecutive time.
Monterrey took control of the game at the start of the match, as, in the very minute 9′, they managed to take the lead thanks to Sergio Canales’ first goal of the night. This undoubtedly helped the visiting team feel comfortable at the Akron Stadium.
Then, in the 36th minute, a foul in the box resulted in a penalty kick for Monterrey, which Canales himself converted to put the visitors ahead 2-0.
With the game 2-0, the teams went to the break to deploy a new strategy for the second half.
At the start of the second half, the Rebaño Sagrado began strongly trying to score the first goal and thus get closer to the scoreboard.
