Altas vs. Toluca, which took all the spotlight this matchday 6 of the Apertura 2023 Liga MX Tournament, ended with a score of 0-0. While it is true that the score might make us think that it was a boring match, there is no doubt that we would be far from the truth.
Both teams had many opportunities to open the scoring, but their ineffectiveness in front of goal left them with no chance of winning. Toluca had the first scoring chance of the match after a very good play by Robert Morales. Then, Atlas responded with a very good play on the left flank by Jeremy Márquez, but, in the same way, he fell short and could not score a goal for his team.
The rest of the match was a spectacular back-and-forth, as both teams always tried to take the lead. However, time ran out, and the score was a 0-0 draw.

Another of the surprising results of matchday 6 of the Liga MX Apertura 2023 was Santos’ 2-1 victory over Chivas de Guadalajara. We say surprising because Chivas started the season with a spectacular level of play, and everyone expected them to take the three points.
The match started very well for Santos Laguna, as in addition to controlling the ball, they had many clear scoring chances in the first half. However, the visitors’ defense was in charge of repelling each of the home team’s approaches.
However, at minute 56, Juan Brunetta scored Santos’ first goal to give his team a 1-0 lead. This, undoubtedly, encouraged the local fans and the team to keep looking for the goal that would give them more peace of mind. Then, at minute 72′, Duván Vergara scored the 2-0.
With Chivas on the ropes and just a few minutes left to play, an offense by the visiting team ended in a foul inside the opponent’s area, resulting in a penalty kick. As a result, Roberto Alvarado scored Chivas’ only goal of the match in the 84th minute.

Pumas finally stepped up to the plate in this match against Tigres in a spectacular feline duel to win 2-1 at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.
Although the bookmakers and many fans indeed had UANL as favorites in this away match, UNAM had something else to show that this great start to the tournament was no coincidence.
Tigres took possession of the ball from the start of the match and generated some scoring opportunities. However, Pumas was in charge of defending and mounting counter-attacks to try to surprise the visitors’ defense. Finally, the first half ended with a 0-0 scoreline, which was certainly fair then.
Then, at the start of the second half, Pumas went all out in search of the match’s first goal and got it at minute 50′ thanks to a goal by Gabriel Matías Fernández. This undoubtedly caused Tigres to open up a little more on the field to make the score 1-1. However, Pumas kept their composure and, after a foul inside the box at minute 8”, Juan Ignacio Dinenno scored a penalty kick to give Pumas a 2-0 lead.
Finally, seconds before the end of the match, Tigres pulled one back thanks to a goal by Ozziel Herrera at minute 90+2.
