Uruguay vs. Colombia: Copa América Semifinals Preview

Uruguay

It has been an exciting road to make it all the way here to the semifinals of the Copa América, and we’ll have an excellent clash between two candidates once Uruguay and Colombia hit the field.

The Celeste beat Brazil in a tense game that ended in penalties and left a bad image of the Canarinha, especially for the poor treatment of the players to their coach, Dorival Junior, in images that are turning around the world.

The Cafeteros had the easiest rival of the quarterfinals and did a quick job of Panama with a dominant 5-0 win.

Why Bet on Uruguay?

First, we have Uruguay, who managed to book their spot in Thursday’s semifinal after securing a heartstopping victory against South American giants Brazil via penalties.

Getting their Copa America adventure underway with a 3-1 victory against Panama on June 24th, the former Leeds boss saw his high-flying squad win all three Group C appearances by an aggregate score of 9-1. Precisely, one of the most telling stats for Uruguay is that it leads the field in goal differential, which is a good indicator of its dominant performance thus far.

Midfielder Nahitan Nandez is banned for the match, while Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo should miss out with a muscle injury. Jose Gimenez is widely expected to replace him in the starting XI.

Why Bet on Colombia?

Colombia, who had the easier path to the semifinal, destroyed a helpless Panama 5-0. They have easily dominated two of their four games, all be it against weaker CONCACAF teams, and are coming up looking to show that their path here has not been a result of easier matches, but due to their level of play.

Jefferson Lerma is back from suspension, while Jhon Lucumi remains in the recovery room.

Colombia’s James Rodríguez has been the spark for the team’s offense during the tournament, as he has already provided four assists for his teammates while opening his goal-scoring account against Los Canaleros.

Final Betting Analysis: Uruguay vs. Colombia

Uruguay will face a strong offense against Colombia, but if its defense can perform the way it has for most of the tournament, it should lead to a trip to the title game.

Colombia doesn’t defend amazingly well, but they have the most firepower in the tournament with several attacking options, and they haven’t left much to chance.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side hacked their way to the semifinal, but it got the job done, and now they will try to disrupt Colombia. PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte was the match-winner in the penalty kicks for Uruguay, while Federico Valverde also had a good game, and Sergio Rochet was the man in goal.

There’s something about this Colombian team and fans that has added magic to this tournament. Uruguay are a very good team, but we are not sure it will be enough. What is sure is that any will be comfortable with a penalty shootout.

This match is more of a coin toss than any other, but we believe the Cafeteros have found their key to success and will reach the Copa América final after a 0-1.

Go for a victory for the Colombians at 2.82. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $182 for a total payout of $282.
