Why Bet on Chile?
Chile will have to go out at their best, as they need to find the way to secure the 2nd spot on the board if they are to make it any further. We have to point out that heading into this tournament, the Chileans appeared to have rediscovered their goalscoring form, but that attacking quality was nowhere to be found on matchday one.
Ricardo Gareca’s men had scored multiple times in their three pre-tournament friendlies, but they have now failed to find the back of the net in three consecutive Copa América fixtures dating back to 2021.
The former Argentine international is only the fourth person to coach in five consecutive Copa America competitions, joining Oscar Tabarez, Luis Tirado, and Guillermo Stabile.
Why Bet on Argentina?
Argentina is one of the favorites in the whole competition, so their lead in group A is no surprise. However, they got their win against what we could consider to be the toughest opponent in the group, on paper. So, Chile is going to have a tough night out after their first clash draw.
In the opening match of this tournament, the reigning champions fended off a pesky Canadian side to win 2-0. Now, they can punch their ticket into the knockout stage of the 2024 edition when they head to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Canada did not make it easy on them, but Argentina was able to survive a few scares and begin this tournament on a winning note.
That was the first time since 2016 that they had won their opening Copa America group fixture, and the last two times they avoided defeat in their opening match of this tournament, Argentina have gone on to make the final.
Final Betting Analysis: Chile vs. Argentina
For Argentina, a win would ensure they progress to the knockout phase of this tournament for a 14th consecutive time, not counting when they withdrew from the 2001 edition of the Copa América.
Should they win this match while Peru and Canada play to a draw, the Albiceleste will top its Copa America group on successive occasions for the first time since 2015 and 2016.
On matchday one, the Argentines looked vulnerable in transition. However, even if Chile puts up a tough challenge ahead of them, they have an array of veterans and youthful players who can change the complexion of any match. They are also unbeaten in the last six games with this rival and have not “lost” to them since their double meltdown in the Copa América finals of 2015 and 2016, both times on penalties.
The Roja hasn’t won in regular time since 2008 when they did so for the World Cup Qualifiers.
We’ll go for a victory for the defending champions by 2-1.
Go for a victory for Argentina at 1.71. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $71 for a total payout of $171.
