Copa America 2024

Last Updated on June 22, 2024 1:38 pm by Erwin Noguera

Group D is getting started on Copa America, with Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, and Costa Rica as the protagonists. We must point out that Brazil is the big favorite, but with the Verdeamarela at an all-time low, everything is in the air.

Costa Rica will be no slouch, so even though they are far (name-wise) from the team that surprised everyone in 2014, they still come from a pretty decent World Cup.

Why Bet on Brazil?

Whenever Brazil participates in a major competition of any kind, they expect to win, and is no different this time. In their previous two appearances at this tournament, they have made it to the final, but we should note that the last time this event took place in the United States, the Brazilians failed to advance beyond the group stage for the first time since 1987.

Dorival Junior was brought in to coach this team in January after Carlo Ancelotti chose to stay with Real Madrid, and the man who guided Flamengo to the 2022 Copa Libertadores crown is unbeaten in his four matches in charge.

The Seleção has not lost a match against a CONCACAF opponent in more than a decade since Mexico defeated them 2-0 in a June 2012 friendly in the United States.

Since losing their final Copa America group fixture versus Peru in 2016 (1-0), they are unbeaten in seven consecutive matches in this portion of the competition.

Why Bet on Costa Rica?

Right now, the quest for a fourth successive World Cup appearance is off to a good start for Los Ticos, who have won their first two matches by a combined score of 7-0.Gustavo Alfaro will face stiff competition in the group stage of this event, though, and this is a tournament they have not competed in since 2016.

Costa Rica have won four of their previous six international fixtures, losing only once over that stretch (3-1 to Argentina). They have also not conceded in any of their last three competitive fixtures, winning 15 of their previous 16 encounters when scoring the opening goal.

Not since the 2004 edition of the Copa América in Peru have the Costa Ricans made it beyond the group stage of this competition, though they have only gone winless in one of their five appearances at this tournament (1997), so we are bound to see an interesting show.

Final Betting Analysis: Brazil vs. Costa

The Costa Ricans have had no trouble in World Cup qualifying thus far. However, Brazil has an array of talented youngsters and experienced players to call upon, and we believe they will overwhelm Los Ticos, who are still going through a transitional period.

This match will be a good way to start the action for both teams as the Verdeamarela is likely to get up to full speed, and Costa Rica will only be working upwards as they face more accessible rivals in the next two matches.

We’ll go for a 3-0 victory for Brazil.

Go for a victory for the South American giants at 1.14. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $14 for a total payout of $114.
