Argentina vs. Canada: Copa América Semifinals Preview

Argentina

We are down to the last few matches in the Copa América, as the semifinals prepare the end of the road for one of the best international cup competitions in the world. This time, we have a remake from the game that opened the curtain of this great event, as Argentina faces a sturdy Canada again.

The Albiceleste had a hard time dispatching Ecuador. However, Dibu Martinez, once again, showed that he is one of the best goalkeepers you could have in a penalty shootout in the world, if not the best.

The Maple Leaf also had a harsh time against a Venezuelan team that was the favorite. Still, la Vinotinto was less precise in the penalty shootout.

Why Bet on Argentina?

We get ready to watch the first of the semis as Argentina continues a wonderful run, and it is no surprise seeing the Lionel Messi-led team back on this stage as the defending Copa América and World Cup champions. Another trophy in a row for this generation will further cement its legacy as one of the best in the history of the continent and increase the GOAT’s legend.

The Albiceleste has been one of the most dominant teams throughout the tournament. It kept its opponents scoreless through the group stages and didn’t allow a goal until late in its matchup with Ecuador. However, that solitary concession led to a penalty shootout as the team from the South Cone was incapable of capitalizing on most of its chances.

Then, in penalties, Argentina proved that no moment is too big for its roster. However, the truth is that the team is not as solid as at other times, and the project may be showing signs of tiredness, especially as Messi has been far from his best for a little while now.

Why Bet on Canada?

On the other side of the field, we have a Canadian team that has become the Cinderella of its first-ever Copa América tournament, especially after taking down Group B winner Venezuela on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Friday’s quarterfinal.

The Maple Leaf’s tremendous run to the semifinal is extremely impressive, especially considering it’s the country’s first appearance in this stage. However, for those who follow the CONCACAF, this may not be all that surprising as the team has experienced massive growth in recent years and counts on excellent players such as Davies and David. Except for his blooper against Venezuela that gave us the best goal of the tournament, goalkeeper Crépeau has also been pretty solid.

Soccer fans should tip their hats to Canada and its Cinderella run but a Copa América title doesn’t seem within reach yet.

Final Betting Analysis: Argentina vs. Canada

Argentina had been enjoying their successful run to the semis and will now play against Canada for the second time, after beating them in the group stage 2-0.

If we go by the same pattern, then Argentines are currently on much higher ground, and owing to the Albiceleste current form, they will be looking at steamrolling Canada and storming into the final of the Copa América 2024, being this their fourth participation in the decisive match in the last five editions.

Argentina can convincingly beat Canada by a margin of one or two goals if they do not choke during key moments in the game. The North American strategy can be a full-fledged attack in the first half, attempting at least one goal, and then defending from the midfield as the game proceeds.

We expect the defending champions to win by 2-1.

Go for a victory for the Albiceleste at 1.36. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $36 for a total payout of $136.
