Inter Miami is motivated to reach the final of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. In the first leg, in the cold Canadian weather, they lost 2-0, so now, with the warmth of their fans, they will try to mount a comeback.
Over the weekend, they rested all their stars and lost 3-4 to Dallas in an incredible match where they had been leading 3-1. Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets didn’t play a single minute, saving themselves for a comeback attempt.
One thing working against Inter is that in this tournament, the away goal rule applies, meaning if the Whitecaps score once, Inter would need to score four times to advance, making defense extremely important.
2025 has been a great year for the Vancouver Whitecaps. In addition to leading the semifinal with a 2-0 advantage, they are the best team in MLS with seven wins, two draws, and only one loss. They are coming off a 1-3 over Minnesota United andalso resting some of their key players. They are league leaders and are now unbeaten in eight matches.
Vancouver have pulled off surprises in this tournament by eliminating Monterrey and Pumas, two favorites, both times benefiting from the away goal rule.

In the Mexican series, Cruz Azul took the upper hand by drawing 1-1 with Tigres in the first leg, earning a crucial away goal.
The ‘Máquina’ secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Mexican league, allowing them to rest this past weekend while the Play-In was being played.
They are now unbeaten in 15 matches under Vicente Sánchez, although they have drawn three of their last four games. They have a strong squad, but more is expected from European players Mateusz Bogusz and Giorgos Giakoumakis.
As for Tigres, they also rested this weekend after qualifying directly for the league’s quarterfinals. They are unbeaten in their last seven matches, although their previous home game ended a good winning streak.
Due to the away goal rule, Tigres will need to score at least once, as a 0-0 draw would see them eliminated.
André-Pierre Gignac remains sidelined with injury, and Nicolás Ibáñez has not been scoring at the level expected this season.
