Matchday 15 of the Brasileirão is history, and we enjoyed a litter of exceptional matches over the weekend. Some surprises or expected results, in one way or another, we have that every game had emotions from start to finish.
After the last weekend, Flamengo continues to lead the standings, but with only 1 point separating them from Botafogo and Palmeiras, who won their respective matches and took advantage of the Fla’s draw against Cuiaba.
Similarly, São Paulo continued to be inspired and won its fourth consecutive match, while Bahia and Paranaense need to be more consistent to return to the fight for the top of the table.

Flamengo had many opportunities to take the victory, but, they could not get beyond a 1-1 draw.
The match started with Cuiabá surprising everyone with a goal in the 6th minute by Derik Lacerda. Following this, it was obvious that the visiting team was going to close the lines to defend, as they had to withstand Flamengo’s onslaught for practically the entire match and they did it to perfection.
Flamengo did not get desperate and, minute after minute, they created scoring chances trying to draw. Overall, Flamengo had 66% ball possession, with 20 scoring chances and 10 direct shots on goal.
Despite this dominance, the halftime came with Cuiabá 1-0 ahead.
At the start of the second half, specifically in the 60th minute, Pedro Guilherme Abreu dos Santos equalized the score 1-1, giving the team much more confidence to look for the definitive 2-1. However, Cuiaba’s defense resisted and they managed to share the points in this difficult match.

Cruzeiro proved that their level of play is still at its peak with a resounding 3-0 win over Corinthians in this home match.
The game was a thrilling give-and-take from the opening whistle. However, the Black Beast was able to score the first goal in the 6th minute through Matheus Pereira. This gave them the confidence to go ahead in the match and, in the 45+4′ minute, they got a much more reassuring 2-0.
Finally, in minute 3 of the second half, Gabriel Veron scored the definitive 3-0 to give the locals the victory and help them get back to winning ways.

Palmeiras fulfilled in this very important clash against a direct rival and at home, to take a resounding 2-0 victory.
This was the most anticipated match of the day, considering that both are fighting for the top of the standings. Although the game was a spectacular back and forth, the Verdão was able to dominate at home to take the victory. Although the visitors dominated possession, they were unable to beat the Palmeiras goalkeeper on any of their approaches.
The match was tied 0-0 until the 45+3′ minute when Estevão William scored the 1-0 to take Palmeiras to a partial victory at halftime. Then, in the 61st minute, the locals once again found space in the Bahia’s defense and, thanks to a great play by Ronielson da Silva Barbosa, managed to score the definitive 2-0.
Thanks to this victory, Palmeiras is only 1 point behind Flamengo in the fight for the top of the table.

Finally, Botafogo continues to show a spectacular level of play this Brasileirão season and, on this occasion, they annihilated Atlético Mineiro at home with an excellent score of 3-0.
O Fogo was infinitely superior to its rival in this match. However, what conditioned the result was the sending off of Igor Rabello da Costa in the 24th minute, which left the visitors with 10 players with almost 70 minutes to go. The locals made the most of this to claim a resounding victory.
The match started with Botafogo attacking Atlético Mineiro left and right and, in the 13th minute, Luiz da Silva scored the team’s first goal. Although it went 1-0 at halftime, in the second half, O Fogo, once again, outplayed Atlético Mineiro in every way.
Finally, with goals in the 79th minute (Cuiabano) and Jefferson Savarino (90+4), Botafogo achieved a very good 3-0 victory at home, to stay in second place in the table, only one point behind Flamengo.
