Gary “The Diva” Cully picked up the biggest win of his pro career when he dropped and stopped former world champion Miguel Vazquez in the fifth round.
Cully dropped Vazquez in the third round and then finished him off with a combination in the fifth.
It marked one of the few times that the 35-year-old Vazquez has been stopped in his career. Meanwhile, Cully was comfortable in the distance, and the Kildare man was in complete control throughout the lightweight bout.
The victory took Cully’s record to 14-0 and he was delighted that his hard work paid off.
The Aftermath: The next step is becoming a title challenger.
When asked what’s next, Cully, who is trained by Pete Taylor, replied that he was on the search for world titles.
He shows confidence and trusts his team for the task so after an excellent performance, we can only expect “The Diva” to keep marching forward as an undefeated fighter.
