One of the most traditional tennis competitions in the world is about to know its next winner this upcoming Sunday, July 10th. The Serbian Novak Djokovic will face Nick Kyrgios, another talented Australian player, who will try to win his first Wimbledon final against a six-time winner.
Nick Kyrgios has a good record against Djokovic, but there are not too many games to conclude anything. They played twice in 2017 in two competitions: Indian Wells and Acapulco. In both opportunities, the Australian player beat the Serbian by 2-0 (one for the round of 16 and the other for the quarter-finals).
Natural from Canberra, Australia, Kyrgios is number 40 in the world right now and he recently won the Australian Open Doubles, this current year, with the partnership of Thanasi Kokkinakis.
He beat the Chilean Cristian Garin by 3-0 for the quarter-finals, but couldn’t play against Rafael Nadal in the semis, because the Spanish star got injured and had to leave the competition.
Novak Djokovic will reach his 8th Wimbledon final next Sunday, a number that can certainly scare the opponent, who has much less experience in this tournament. The Serbian has won this competition six times and in the last three, he took the trophy back to his house.
To get to this final, Djokovic defeated the British Cameron Norrie by 3-1, not without suffering a little bit in the first set, when the 26-year-old, born in South Africa, opened a 6-2 to make things more exciting.
The actual number 3 of the world, Novak seems far from retirement, still living at the peak of his performances at 35 years old.
