The first matchday of the Copa America is right upon us, set up to begin this next Friday, and the whole continent will come to a standstill as 16 teams fight it out to make their way to the top.
We can’t deny that Argentina is one of the candidates, as they are the defending champions and are looking towards repeating the title. However, even though they are the clear favorites in Group A, there are other possible contenders in the same group, such as Peru and Chile, looking to be in the top two.

Why Bet on Peru?
Things are looking pretty good for Peru, as they will begin their Copa America campaign in solid form. They are on a five-match unbeaten run across all competitions.
Near the end of 2023, the Peruvian Football Federation brought in an experienced coach, Jorge Fossati, who has recently transformed the fortunes of this team. The Peruvians were on a seven-match winless streak in all competitions, with six encounters ending in defeat.
That poor form has hurt their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. They are at the bottom of the CONMEBOL Qualifiers table with just two points from six matches.
Why Bet on Chile?
A familiar face to many of these Peruvian players has built up some momentum since taking charge of Chile last January. Ricardo Gareca guided Peru to an appearance at the 2018 World Cup, their first since 1982, and he has won two of his three matches as coach of La Roja, with their only defeat being in a friendly versus 2022 World Cup runners-up France (3-2).
Under his guidance, this team has scored eight goals in three matches across all competitions, as many as they managed in their previous eight encounters combined. La Roja has only lost one match since 2020 when scoring the opening goal, which was theaforementioned defeat versus France earlier this year.
While they have not qualified for a World Cup since 2014, the Chileans will have fond memories of the previous Copa America held in the US, when they lifted the trophy for a second successive occasion.
Final Betting Analysis: Peru vs. Chile
Since 2003, they have played 21 times. In that time, la Roja achieved a massive advantage with 15 wins, compared to 5 for Peru. There has been only one draw, in a friendly in 2004, 20 years ago.
Gareca developed many players still featuring for Peru, and he would know best how to break down their defensive structure.
We believe Chile has faced stiffer competition throughout the year compared to the Peruvians. That will be a great benefit to them heading into this encounter. With the advantage of the knowledge at the hands of Ricardo Gareca, Chile will be able to get a clear victory in this match, which should keep them in the fight for the top two for now.
We’ll go for a 0-2.
Go for a victory for Chile at 1.984. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $98.4 for a total payout of $1984.
