Pegasus World Cup 2024 Favorites
At Gulfstream Park, in Florida, United States, there are outstanding horses, all of them at least four years old, but first we must talk about Warm Heart, who is one of the best exponents in the world and is the one who wants to win the prize of 3 million dollars.
During 2023, the horse achieved four victories, winning the Fillies’ Trial Stakes, Ribblesdale Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks, and Prix Vermeille. He even finished second in the Breeders’ Cup, second only to Inspiral. Finally, he closed his season in Hong Kong in third place, behind Junko and Zeffiro.Â
Warm Heart, owned by Galileo, is trained by Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore. He will now be looking for the most important win of his career, seeking to take Atone’s place.
The second major contender is the Cherie DeVaux-trained Star Fortress, who won the only race he competed in, the Cardinal S. He beat Saffron Moon and Lovely Princess that day.
Integration is a four-year-old horse owned by West Point Thoroughbreds and Woodford Racing and trained by Claude R. McGaughey.
His 2023 was impressive, winning in all three contests he was in. He defeated Program Trading in the Virginia Derby, and I’m Very Busy in the Hill Prince.
Those attending the Florida track will also be able to enjoy another of the world’s great thoroughbreds, Queen Goddess, who is trained by Michael McCarthy.
He is one of the most experienced in this type of competition, running since 2021, and was the winner of the Pegasus Filly & Mare Turf last year. The other win he celebrated in 2023 was the Robert J. Frankel Stakes, while he was on the podium in the Gamely Stakes and Goldikova Stakes. However, he closed the year in a bad way, being ninth in the Matriarch Stakes.
From Argentina comes Didia, whose trainer is Ignacio Correas IV, and seeks to improve the image he left in his last competition, the Breeders’ Cup, in which he finished tenth.
However, it should be remembered that in the Rodeo Drive Stakes, Modesty, and Tom Benson Memorial Stakes, he won first place, while he was second in the race held in New York.
As a curious fact, this year, the horse that tries to defend the championship is Atone. However, in the betting, he is not among the candidates to cross the finish line in the first position. On the contrary, he is among the least favorites.
Atone won the previous edition of the Pegasus, but after that, he had terrible results, finishing 11th in the Arlington Million, ninth in the Muniz Memorial Classic, and eighth in the Turf Mile.
The little that saved his season was fourth in the Mint Millions and fifth in the Dinner Party. His performance puts him as an option that generates few expectations.
