O'Shaquie Foster vs. Eduardo Hernandez

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has designated Cancun, Mexico, as the venue for the fight for the super featherweight world title held by the American O’Shaquie Foster.

The American has held the belt since February of this year and his opponent will be a Mexican, Eduardo Hernández, who has been at a superlative level in his last fights.

‘Rocky’ Hernandez is only 25 years old and although he has one loss in his career, he has a KO streak that made him worthy of a fight against Foster in his homeland, which could be an advantage or an extra pressure.

In addition, the Mexican will be able to collect a national revenge, since the American won his title by defeating Rey Vargas in a tight fight, who was undefeated until that bout took place in San Antonio, Texas.

The organization has already indicated that a full house is expected for the fight, since it has been considered a “milestone”, according to organizer Pepe Gomez, from Cancun Boxing.

The American has 10 fights without losing, what’s more, the last defeat he recorded was on July 22, 2016, when he was defeated by John McKaie. The other fighter who beat him was Samuel Teah by unanimous decision in 2015.

Foster has not lost for seven years, making use of his nickname, ‘Ice Water’, which he earned for his smart way of fighting, waiting for his moment to destroy his opponent.

His height is 1.74 meters, while his reach is at 1.83 meters.

He also defeated Mexicans Jorge Mata, Jorge Castañeda, Eleazar Valenzuela, Eduardo Garza, and Sergio Puente by knockout. He already holds the international super featherweight belt, which he won in June 2022.

The only time he lost was on July 13, 2017, when he could not get up before the judge’s count in the first round, after Roger Gutierrez’s punches.

A fact to keep in mind with the Mexican is that he has 91% of victories by KO, he is 1.69 meters tall and his reach is 1.73 meters.
