After the summer break of almost 1 month in the 2023 Formula 1 season, all eyes are on the Dutch GP, which has always offered excitement, drama, and unpredictability. With its unique blend of high-speed straights and challenging corners, the Zandvoort circuit is ready to welcome the world’s best drivers.
Dutch GP
After a 35-year hiatus, the Dutch GP successfully returned to the F1 calendar in 2021. The renovated Zandvoort Circuit has already become a fan favorite with its banked corners and a passionate orange-clad crowd cheering on local hero Max Verstappen. In addition, we all know how important it is to start from the front of the grid, as the track’s tightness makes it difficult to overtake.
Looking ahead to the Dutch GP in 2023, the competition seems tighter than ever. Reigning champion Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, and the emerging Lando Norris are all in the hunt for the top spot on the podium.
The Circuit: Zandvoort
On the North Sea, about 15 km west of Amsterdam, the Zandvoort circuit is located between Haarlem (Netherlands) and the municipality that bears its name. The area is known for having one of the largest beaches in the Netherlands and for hosting numerous renowned coastal dunes.
The Zandvoort circuit has a length of 4.259 kilometers, divided into 14 turns, 10 of which are right-handers and 4 left-handers. It recently attracted a record 105,000 spectators.
On this circuit, the sensation of curving and flowing through the dunes gives the lap a roller-coaster feel. One of the innovations is the increased banking angle, now over 18 degrees, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s iconic Tarzan Curve.
There will be 72 laps around it, for a total distance of 306 kilometers. There are two DRS zones there, one after turn 10 and the other just before turn 13.
Finally, the record for the fastest lap belongs to the British and 7-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, with 1:11.097 in the 2021 season.

Where can I watch it?
With his vast experience and exceptional skill, Hamilton has always been a force to be reckoned with in Formula 1. However, the Mercedes star has had a mixed record at the Dutch GP, finishing second in 2021 and fourth in 2022. Despite this, Hamilton’s ability to adapt and succeed makes him a safe bet for a podium finish.
Verstappen, meanwhile, will have a home advantage. The Red Bull driver, who won the race in 2021 and 2022, will be eager to take his third consecutive win at his home prize. Verstappen’s aggressive driving style and familiarity with the circuit make him a strong contender for victory.
Betting Picks
For the outright winner, Verstappen looks to be the best bet. His track record at Zandvoort and the added motivation of a home race make him a strong favorite. In terms of podiums, Hamilton is almost a sure bet. The British driver has almost always finished in the top three at Zandvoort, and it would be a surprise if he did not repeat the feat.
In the Constructors’ Championship, the race will likely be close between Red Bull, Mercedes, and Aston Martin. All three teams have strong driver lineups and have performed well in this 2023 season. However, with Verstappen in the lead, Red Bull could have a slight advantage.
