First held in 1926, the British Grand Prix has been held annually since 1948 and has been a round of the FIA Formula One World Championship every year since 1950.
In 1952, following the transfer of the lease of the Silverstone Circuit to the British Racing Drivers’ Club, the RAC delegated the organization of the race to the BRDC for the first time, and this arrangement has continued for all British Grands Prix held at Silverstone since then. It is currently held at such circuit near the village of Silverstone in Northamptonshire in England.
The 2019 event was the 70th time that the race had been run as a World Championship event since the inaugural season in 1950, and the 53rd time that a World Championship round had been held at Silverstone. The race is the oldest in the Formula One World Championship calendar as the 1950 race at Silverstone was round one of the first championship season in 1950.
It and the Italian Grand Prix are the only two Formula One World Championship Grands Prix that have been staged during every season that the championship has been held.
The event is due to take place at Silverstone Circuit until at least 2024.

British GP 2023 Preview and Betting Odds
The British Grand Prix is a highlight of the sporting calendar, with Formula 1 cars set to blast around the iconic twists and turns of Silverstone this weekend.
Max Verstappen enters the race as the overwhelming favorite to perch himself atop the podium, while the rest of the grid scrambles to keep up with his electrifying pace up front.
Charles Leclerc punched in a solid performance to claim a much-needed second-place finish in the Austrian Grand Prix last time out, but he knows he must deliver more big displays to maximize his potential output with Ferrari.
Red Bull may have been unbeaten in 2023, but the Austrian squad has yet to register a win at Silverstone since F1 switched to V6 turbo hybrid engines in 2014.
Red Bull’s last victory at the British GP came back in 2012, courtesy of Mark Webber, with all subsequent races won by either Mercedes or Ferrari.
That is not to say Red Bull is not the favorite for Silverstone, and all odds point toward another Max Verstappen triumph.
However, one can expect Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Ferrari – or at least one of these three teams – to be closer to Red Bull this time around.
Carlos Sainz won here last year and he could challenge this time around again alongside Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc.
Home favorites Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, and Lando Norris will also be looking to cause an upset this weekend.
Our picks:
- Max Verstappen get Redbull their first British GP victory in a long time.
- Carlos Sainz to get a close second place.
- Lewis Hamilton gets surprisingly close as he enters the Podium.
- Sergio Perez will barely be out of the Podium in 4rth.
