We prepare for a new chapter of the 3M Open in 2023, as the young tournament (spiritual successor of the 3M Championship), celebrates its 5th edition, as It debuted in 2019. Although it is not one of the most well-known PGA tour championships, it is still full of talent from all over the world, with names like Finau, Young, and Grillo on the sheet.
This year’s event will have a total of $7.800.000 million for its prize pull, which will be accessible only to the top 75 players. On the other hand, the winner will get a whopping $1.404.000 prize. The open full field will have a total of 156 players, so a little less than half will qualify.
This tournament will be the second to last event of the regular season, so many players will be putting their life on the line for one of the last chances to qualify for the FedEx Cup and PGA Tour postseason.

As it is usual, the current champion is the favorite to defend its crown in this edition of the 3M Open. Tony Finau comes with good odds at +1300. However, if he is up to the task, he will become the first one capable of defending his trophy in the young tournament. In this case, we believe the trend of a new champion every season will continue, so we’ll go with Cameron Young, in this case at +1400.
Now, let’s take a look at the margin of victory in the previous editions:
2019: 1 Stroke
2020: 2 Strokes
2021: 2 Strokes
2022: 3 Strokes
There is a clear ascending curve year after year, so we believe that going for the “4 shots or more margin” at +300 is an excellent option.
