Serie del Caribe Sixth Matchday Preview

Last Updated on February 7, 2023 11:17 am by Erwin Noguera

The traditional baseball competition between the nations of the Caribean sea reaches its sixth day of games today, bringing interesting clashes like Panama vs. Mexico, Puerto Rico vs. Cuba, and Colombia vs. the Dominican Republic.

The Serie del Caribe, which started on February 2nd, is played daily and will have the final stages starting on the 9th and ending on February 10th, with the grand finale at the new Estadio de La Rinconada.

With only two rounds to go before the start of the semifinals, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic are the teams that are at the top of the standings at this moment and that have the best chances of advancing to the next stage.

Mexico won four of the 5 games played so far, living up to its favoritism to win the tournament. Cuba’s team, for its part, is in last place, having managed only one victory in 5 games.

Follow our comments on the main matches of Round 6 and find out who are the main favorites to win the clashes.

Series del Caribe – Round 6 games

  • Puerto Rico vs Cuba
  •  Panama vs Mexico
  •  Colombia vs Dominican Republic
  •  Venezuela vs Curacao

Two of the countries with the most beautiful natural landscapes in the world face each other this Tuesday in search of improving their positions on the table. Cuba’s national team has very remote chances of advancing to the knockout phase, as they have won only one of the 5 games played so far.

Puerto Rico’s situation is a little better than its opponent’s, but it’s also worrying. With only two wins in 5 games, the Puerto Rico team needs to win and hope for the stumbling block of Venezuela, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic to enter the group of the top 4 of the competition. If they lose the game, they can see their chances go away, making it easier for their competitors.

The Cuban team has the worst collective statistics in the competition and, therefore, we believe in Puerto Rico’s victory.

Mexico is the leader of the competition and beat Venezuela by 7-0, preventing the hosts from taking the first position in the table.

Panama, in turn, lost to the Dominican Republic by 10-1, but still has chances to remain among the 4 and guarantee qualification for the semifinals. It won’t be an easy game against the biggest favorites of the tournament, but this is the last chance for the Federales de Chiriqui to qualify.

We believe that Mexico will win this match.

Tied in terms of defeats and victories, the players from Colombia and the Dominican Republic know that whoever loses will move away from the top of the table.

In the last round, Colombia beat Cuba by 5-4, while the Dominican Republic beat Panama by 10-1. This confrontation involves the struggle to keep the teams in the group of the first 4 teams, but it can also serve to understand if some of the teams will be up to Mexico in the knockout stages.

We believe in the victory of the Dominican Republic in this confrontation.

Serie del Caribe 2023 – Matchday 6 Preview – Venezuela vs. Curaçao

As always, the hosts will close the matchday receiving one of their honor guests. This time the debutant Wildcats (Curaçao) will be the ones in charge of challenging the Leones del Caracas.

Venezuela looked like a firm candidate until their slip yesterday, as Mexico swiped the team with a clean 7-0 where they didn’t have to get their hair undone. Leones still have very good chances of qualifying, but the problems with squad rotation look too clear when they lose.

Meanwhile, for a debutant nation, Curaçao has been a fair competitor in this edition of the Serie del Caribe, being the only team capable of stopping Mexico for the moment. Whatever the case, we don’t see them with the quality to stop the needy hosts, so go for a Leones del Caracas victory.
