The Formula 1 is heading towards the 16th event of the season this Sunday, September 11th, and the track selected is the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, in Italy.
The Italian Grand Prix is the fifth oldest national Grand Prix, having been held since 1921.
In 2013 it became the most held Grand Prix (the 2021 edition was the 91st).
It is one of the two Grands Prix (along with the British) which has run as an event of the Formula One World Championship every season, continuously since the championship was introduced in 1950.
Every Formula One Italian Grand Prix in the World Championship era has been held at Monza except in 1980 when it was held at Imola.
The Italian Grand Prix counted toward the World Manufacturers’ Championship from 1925 to 1928 and toward the European Championship from 1931 to 1932 and from 1935 to 1938.
It was additionally designated the European Grand Prix seven times between 1923 and 1967 when this title was an honorary designation given each year to one Grand Prix race in Europe.
The event is due to take place at the Monza Circuit until at least 2025.

F1 Italian GP Race Preview and Betting Picks
Verstappen is, as usual, the favorite to win the race, as the defending champion has been in a league of his own this season, winning ten of the 15 races in 2022.
In the first three races, he recorded two DNFs due to mechanical issues.
Since then, he has been more or less unstoppable.
Consequently, the Dutchman finds himself 109 points clear of Leclerc and Perez in the World Drivers’ Championship standings.
Verstappen won the final two races before the summer break, before returning to seal back-to-back victories.
As a result, he heads to Italy on a four-race winning streak.
Alongside Verstappen, Leclerc is the only driver to have won multiple races in 2022.
The Ferrari driver won two of the opening three races before triumphing in Austria back in July.
There is no hiding the fact that Leclerc has struggled for consistency throughout the season.
But after snatching third place at last weekend’s Dutch GP, it feels like the Monegasque is ready to return to the top of the podium.
It looked as though Hamilton stood an excellent chance of winning the Dutch GP.
However, the Mercedes man finished in fourth place last weekend – despite leading the race occasionally.
Ultimately, a questionable tire strategy saw Hamilton drop from P1 to P4 in the Netherlands.
But let’s not forget that he achieved five straight podiums before the summer break.
The seven-time champion will be eager to bounce back at Monza.
It is difficult to predict how Perez will fare in Italy.
Although the Red Bull driver secured five podiums across the first eight races, he only achieved two top-three finishes in the previous seven races.
Of course, Perez has the car to challenge for the chequered flag at every Grand Prix.
But he is nowhere near the level of his teammate, Verstappen.
That said, he will be confident of emulating his victory at Monaco back in May.
