The Spanish GP is one of the oldest race circuits in the world and it is getting ready to give us another iteration in this 2024 Formula One season.

The event is due to take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya until 2026 and has had one of the richest histories out of all the Formula One races. Barcelona is a nice circuit for the drivers, as they kind of know it like the back of their hand, which makes it feel like home for some of the most experienced.

Now, as the drivers start to prepare to race once again on this circuit, we have to point out that things are looking good for Red Bull. The Spanish Grand Prix defending Champion is Max Verstappen, who also holds the record for the fastest lap on the circuit at 1 minute 16.330s, and is now looking to get his third straight victory here.

2024 Spanish GP Preview and Free Pick

Things are looking good for the lead Red Bull Driver, especially coming fresh from his Canada triumph, so it is no surprise to see him again as a favorite for the win. Verstappen is widely expected to do well, and the Dutchman has won this race for the past two seasons. We must mention this is the venue of his first-ever triumph in F1.

You can look at the odds and see that we have the McLaren of Lando Norris as second-favourite, ahead of the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc. There has been little to choose between the two lately. Both have taken a win this year, and the pecking order between the McLaren and Ferraris does seem to be track-specific. Quite who the Barcelona circuit will suit remains to be seen.

Russell was able to grab the first Mercedes podium of the year in Canada, and this is a track that the Silver Arrows once dominated. They could well be in with a shout of a rostrum again on Sunday, but a few others might fancy their chances.

Both Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso are likely going to try and get on the podium in front of their home fans, and we can add that Alonso says he believes his fellow countryman will finish in the top three this weekend, as he answered once asked in the press conference. But with the top four teams all in with a shout, those podium places will be hotly contested.

Podium Picks:

Max Verstappen to get his third straight victory on this circuit.

Charles Leclerc to land on the podium at home with 2nd place.

Lando Norris making himself known at the 3rd place.

Carlos Sainz landed close on the 4th spot, followed by Sergio Perez at 5th.
