The final stage of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying continues when Jamaica hosts Panama on Sunday. This phase consists of an eight-team group with each country playing each other twice and the top three automatically qualifying for Qatar, while the fourth enters an inter-confederation playoff.
Two teams designed to compete for the final berth to the World Cup in Qatar meet on the second day of the group stage, after the first day in which both fell just short of victory. Jamaica competed and lost narrowly to Mexico, and Panama picked up a point against Costa Rica.
Jamaica has scored just one goal in four rounds of World Cup qualifying, showing that their biggest problem is in front of goal. The Panamanians, meanwhile, snapped a four-game losing streak against Costa Rica. Both have been low-scoring games. We’ve seen fewer than 2.5 goals in their last five games in all competitions. In the last four matches, only one of the two teams has managed to score.

Why bet on Jamaica
Jamaica will be confident of their chances of reaching their second World Cup next year in Qatar, having appeared in the final in 1998 before that. However, to do so, they will need to improve on their disappointing form of late.
Throughout the CONCACAF Gold Cup earlier this summer and in the first qualifying round in midweek, the Jamaicans have lost their last three games. However, those defeats have come on away trips to the three strongest teams in the CONCACAF region; Costa Rica, the United States, and Mexico.
Why bet on Panama
As for the visitors, Panama also failed to win in their first qualifier of this octagonal stage. However, the nation will wonder how they didn’t open with three points as they battered their Costa Rican opponents for large parts of the match, which included 18 shots to just four from their visitors, but ultimately had to settle for a goalless draw to start with a point.
On a positive note, Panama will be pleased with the clean sheet after conceding 10 goals in their previous four games in all competitions leading up to that match, which included an early exit from the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the group stage. Thomas Christiansen’s side will be hoping for a positive result in Jamaica at the weekend. They look to repeat their heroics from their previous qualifying campaign, which saw them qualify for their first-ever World Cup.
Final betting odds analysis between Jamaica and Panama
With a host of important players returning for Jamaica, it’s hard to go past them with the quality they will possess, especially in the final third. Panama won’t go down without a fight, but we think their hosts will have too much for them in this one, so we think Jamaica will win 2-1.
