The biggest surprise of the weekend came from Bournemouth, who took advantage of William Saliba’s early red card to secure a 2-0 victory over Arsenal, delivering one of the major upsets of the season.

Around the 30th minute, the French defender fouled Evanilson near midfield, and referee Robert Jones, after being called by the VAR, decided to send him off for what was deemed a last-man foul.

The Gunners struggled and couldn’t create real danger, while the Cherries capitalized on their chances. The first came in the 70th minute with a low corner from Lewis Cook that found Justin Kluivert, who immediately passed it back to Ryan Christie, who placed it in the top corner in a set-piece play.

Nine minutes later, a mistake by Jakub Kiwior left Evanilson one-on-one with David Raya, and the Spanish goalkeeper fouled the Brazilian inside the box. Kluivert stepped up to take the penalty and scored the definitive 2-0.

Now, Bournemouth has climbed to 11th place with 11 points, while Arsenal falls four points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Once again, John Stones came to the rescue, just as he did a month ago against Arsenal, but this time to give Manchester City a 1-2 victory over Wolverhampton.

The Wolves surprised early on with a goal from Jorgen Larsen after a great pass from Nélson Semedo. The bottom-placed team was leading Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, the Citizens kept pushing but were up against a brilliant José Sá, who made some spectacular saves. Nevertheless, he couldn’t stop a powerful shot from outside the box by Josko Gvardiol. Although he got a hand to it, the Croatian’s strike was too strong and well-placed, making it impossible to save.

In the second half, City continued pressing until the final play, when a corner from Phil Foden was headed in by Stones, giving them a controversial victory. The play was reviewed by VAR due to a possible offside by Bernardo Silva, who was on the goalkeeper’s line.

Manchester City remains second, just one point behind Liverpool, while Wolves stayed at the bottom with only one point.
