Champions League Matchday 1 Preview

The Champions League is back, and for this edition, it will have many changes, eliminating the group stage and making a “league” phase that will pit each team against eight different opponents, playing four at home and four away.

Milan had not had a very good start to the season, but this weekend, they finally managed to win their first match, although it was against the weak Venezia by 4-0. In addition to the big win, Tammy Abraham and Youssouf Fofana, two of Milan’s most important recruits, scored their first goals.

Liverpool, who had won all three games without conceding a goal, lost 1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest this weekend. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are the stars of the team, each scoring three goals, so between them, they have six of the club’s seven goals. In addition, the Egyptian has three assists.

However, they have three more wins in the league while keeping a clean sheet, and won the European Super Cup against Atalanta. Kylian Mbappé has four goals on the season, two from penalties.

Stuttgart suffered a blow at the start of the season when they lost the German Super Cup on penalties to Bayer Leverkusen. This weekend, they achieved their first Bundesliga victory when they defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 1-3 thanks to a brace from Ermedin Demirovic, the club’s new striker who already has four goals in the campaign.
