Team Overview
The Denver Broncos are approaching the 2024/2025 NFL season with a mix of cautious optimism and the pressure to improve upon their 8-9 record from last year. Under the stewardship of head coach Sean Payton, the Broncos are navigating significant changes, particularly at the quarterback position. With the departure of Russell Wilson, the team is turning to rookie Bo Nix, who was selected 12th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. This season is pivotal for the Broncos as they aim to rebuild and regain their competitive edge in the AFC West, a division known for its formidable opponents.
Offensive Line Analysis
The Broncos’ offensive line enters the season with a sense of stability, retaining four of the five starters from the previous year. This continuity is crucial as the team integrates Bo Nix into the starting quarterback role. The line is anchored by tackles Garett Bolles and Mike McGlinchey, both former first-round picks, who are expected to provide solid protection on the edges. The departure of center Lloyd Cushenberry has opened up competition for the starting role, with Sam Mustipher and Luke Wattenberg as the primary contenders. Despite the challenges, the offensive line is ranked 15th by Pro Football Focus, indicating a middle-of-the-pack performance that could improve with the right adjustments.
Defensive Line Analysis
Defensively, the Broncos are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2023 season. The defensive line, ranked 31st by Pro Football Focus, has been bolstered by the addition of players like John Franklin-Myers and Malcolm Roach. These acquisitions aim to enhance both the pass rush and run-stopping capabilities. The line will be led by veterans such as Zach Allen and promising talents like Baron Browning, who combined for 16.5 sacks last season. The effectiveness of the defensive line will be critical in a division that features potent offenses, including the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.
2024 NFL Season
Week 11 Review – vs. Atlanta Falcons
The Broncos made a comeback on Sunday, emerging victorious over the Atlanta Falcons 38-6. Bo Nix was a stand-out in this game, throwing four touchdown passes and completing 85% of his passes for 307 yards.
The Broncos finished the game 400 total yards, 295 passing yards, 105 rushing yards and an average of 6.7 yards per play. The Broncos will next face off against the Las Vegas Raiders in a game they are favored to win.
Week 10 Review – vs. Kansas City Chiefs
The Denver Broncos fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 16-14 in a heartbreaking loss on Sunday, bringing their record to 5-5. Despite an early 14-3 lead, the Broncos couldn’t hold off the Chiefs’ comeback. The game ended dramatically with a blocked field goal attempt as time expired.
Quarter Back Bo Nix threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns, with Courtland Sutton making key receptions. The Broncos aim to rebound next Sunday at home against the Atlanta Falcons, looking to improve their standing in the competitive AFC West.
Week 9 Review – vs. Baltimore Ravens
The Broncos suffered a heavy and shocking 41-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens over the weekend.
This loss brings the Broncos to 5-4 in the series and in need a pivot if they want to stay competitive for the second half of the season. Quarterback Bo Nix was not his A-Game against the Ravens, as the Broncos saw one of their worst performances of the season. When speaking about the loss Nix said “We have to face it. You either sit there and point the finger at somebody else or you take ownership of it. The only way to get over it is to look internally. That’s what we’re going to do.”
The Broncos have also had an internal shake-up this week as they have traded pass rusher Baron Browning to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. Next the Broncos will face off against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs who lead their division 8-0.
Week 8 Review – vs. Carolina Panthers
The Broncos continued to hold a strong 2nd place presence in the AFC West after winning 28-14 against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Denver finished the game with 400 Total Yards, 298 Passing Yards, 102 Rushing Yards and an average of 5.5 Yards per play, vastly outperforming the Panthers. After a fake field goal and a successful fourth-down Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn approached head coach Sean Payton and accused him of “running up the score” in a heated exchange.
Payton responded to the accusation saying the team was not trying to run up the score but “clock out the game.” Next weekend the Broncos will take on the Baltimore Ravens.
Week 7 Review – vs. New Orleans Saints
The Bronco’s redeemed themselves this week with a 33-10 win against the New Orleans Saints. Javonte Williams hit his stride with 88 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bronco’s finished the game with 389 Total Yards, 164 Passing Yards, 225 Rushing Yards and an average of 6.4 Yards per play. While Bo Nix continues to be inconsistent, head coach Sean Payton has spoken about how he is being cautious to not over-coach the rookie saying “I think we start with the focus on timing of the route, the depth of the route in the (shot)gun or under center, (is it a) three-, five- or seven(-step drop back)?”
Next, the Broncos will go up against the Carolina Panthers in a match that is expected to be an easy win.
Week 6 Review – vs. Los Angeles Chargers
The Bronco’s recent string of wins came to an end this week when they lost 23-16 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Rookie Alex Forsyth got to show off his skills for the first time this season with 16 rushing yards and 45 blocks. The Broncos ended the game with 316 total yards, 206 passing yards, 110 rushing yards and an average of 6 yards per play.
The Broncos will hope to make a comeback on Thursday as they face off against the New Orleans Saints.
Week 5 Review – vs. Las Vegas Raiders
The Broncos pulled off another impressive 34-18 win against the Las Vegas Raiders this past weekend. Bo Nix made a comeback after his lacking performance last week, with 206 yards and two touchdowns.
The Broncos completed a total of 289 yards, 180 passing yards, and 109 rushing yards for an average 5 yards per play. Running back Javonte Williams also shined in this game leading in rushing yards and receiving yards.
This upcoming weekend the Broncos will continue to keep it in the AFC West as they take on the Los Angeles Chargers.
Week 4 Review – vs. New York Jets
The Broncos just barely continued their winning streak against the New York Jets this weekend. In a game that ended 10-9 thanks to a touchdown from Courtland Sutton and a field goal from Wil Lutz.
While the Broncos were able to pull off a win the game felt like a loss for Bo Nix who set a record low for yards thrown and passes thrown. Nix completed 12 of 25 yards for 60 yards.
The team is hoping to come back next weekend, well rested and ready to take on the Las Vegas Raiders who have had a similar season. Both teams are tied 2-2 in their series.
Week 3 Review – vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Broncos came together this weekend to pull off a 27-7 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The game marked both the first win of the season for the Broncos and the first win for rookie quarterback Bo Nix.
The team finished with 352 total yards and 18 first downs. Speaking after the game about the win, head coach Sean Payton said: “We all get a little bit more confident with a win. … We had a good plan, the players did a good job, and certainly (Nix) had more fun than he did in prior weeks.”
Next, the Broncos will try to hold their own against the New York Jets who are on a two-game winning streak.

Week 2 Review – vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Broncos continued their losing streak this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The final score of 13-6 have left the Broncos in the 4th place spot in the AFC West Division. Once again Bo Nix shined with two interceptions but the team was unable to respond and score any touchdowns.
Javonte Williams finished the game with 11 carries for 17 yards, showing the struggle that was felt throughout the whole team. Garett Boiles was flagged multiple times throughout the game and had difficulty with most of the plays.
The Broncos are hoping to pull it together for their upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who won their game against the Lions on Sunday.
Week 1 Review – vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Broncos suffered defeat on September 8th against the Seattle Seahawks in a game that ended 26-20. Rookie Quarterback, Bo Nix, made his NFL debut and finished at 26-of-42 passing for 138 yards and two interceptions. Despite his best efforts to give the team a fighting chance the Broncos seemed to have trouble working as a team. Coach Sean Payton stated that Nix didn’t get enough help from his teammates and that the team needs to be more effective in running the ball to support their quarterback.
The team is hoping to shape up and have a stronger performance this weekend as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, who won their game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. In recent years the Broncos have suffered defeat at the hands of the Steelers, not pulling off a win since 2018. Will they be able to change the tide this season?

– Odds to Win AFC West: +1800, reflecting the challenges of competing in a tough division.
– Odds to Win Super Bowl: +30000, indicating a 0.3% chance, which places them as one of the long shots for the championship.
Predictions
– Overall Record: The Broncos are projected to finish with a 6-11 record. This projection considers the team’s transitional phase and the strength of their schedule, which ranks as one of the most challenging in the league.
– Playoff Chances: The odds are stacked against the Broncos making the playoffs, with bookmakers offering +650 for a postseason appearance. This reflects the team’s current rebuilding status and the competitive nature of the AFC.
– Super Bowl Chances: Winning the Super Bowl appears unlikely this season, given their long odds and the need for significant improvements across the roster.
In summary, the Denver Broncos are poised for a season of rebuilding and evaluation, particularly at the quarterback position with Bo Nix. While immediate success may be elusive, the team’s focus on developing young talent and strengthening key areas provides a foundation for future growth. The 2024/2025 season will be a critical period for the Broncos as they strive to establish a new identity and compete in the highly competitive AFC West.
