Tigres is coming off a 2-1 win over Puebla with goals by Sebastián Córdova and Diego Reyes, earning a place in the next stage as La Franja also lost to the Florida club. The Felinos, are at the top of the Mexican league, have three wins in a row, and a five-game unbeaten streak, with their only loss this semester coming in the Mexican Super Cup.

Inter Miami, the defending champion, despite the absence of Lionel Messi, who will most likely not play in the entire tournament, had no problems beating Puebla 2-0 with goals from Matías Rojas and Luis Suárez. However, they will now face a tough test against an opponent that is a strong candidate for the title, and will do so without Messi, Nicolás Freire, and Facundo Farías, who are injured, and Benjamín Cremaschi and Diego Gómez, who are playing in the Olympic Games.

Monterrey, with Óliver Torres making his debut, gave a bad impression in their first game, losing 2-0 to Austin. The Mexicans undoubtedly have one of the best squads, and they tried on many occasions but were unable to overcome the resistance of the Americans. There were 21 shots and 11 corners for the Rayados, who must win this Saturday, or they will be eliminated.

But things also turned out bad for the Pumas, as they lost 3-2 to Austin, despite playing from the 34th minute with an extra man due to the red card of Osman Bukari for the Americans. In addition, Guillermo Martínez missed a penalty kick in the 90+4′ minute that could be decisive. Coach Gustavo Lema did not use his best players in the first match but is expected to do so in this one. It should be remembered that the capital team is one of the leaders of the Mexican league and is undefeated.

Vancouver Whitecaps come into this game with a small advantage, and that is the fact that they drew with Los Angeles FC (2-2) and beat them on penalties, so they have two points. In other words, another draw this weekend would give the Canadians the qualification. The Caps have to improve in the closing of the matches, in the 86th minute they were leading 2-0 and let themselves be tied. Something similar happened in their last MLS game, where they were leading 3-2 and ended up losing 3-4. Coach Vanni Sartini was sent off.

Tijuana will try to clean up its image after the tough 3-0 defeat against LAFC and the argument that its coach Juan Carlos Osorio had with the linesman and the referee, which ended in the red card of the Colombian, who will not be able to sit on the bench this Saturday. The Mexicans had a good start in Liga MX, but, counting this match versus Los Angeles, they have now gone three games without a win with two defeats, both by 3-0.

Chivas achieved a hard-fought draw on the first matchday against San Jose Earthquakes with a goal by Roberto Alvarado in the last play, at minute 90+8, but the Americans won on penalties and got one more point, so they are above them in the table. In the event of a tie on points, the Quakes will advance because they “won” the confrontation, so Fernando Gago’s men have no choice but to win. Jesus Orozco is injured, but Chicharito Hernandez is expected to play this weekend.

For their part, LA Galaxy, who are having a great season in the MLS being the leaders of the Western Conference, have already qualified for the next phase thanks to their 2-1 win over San Jose with goals from Diego Fagúndez and Miguel Berry, so this Sunday they will be the judge of Chivas. The Americans have three wins in a row and eight in their last 10 games, and Uruguayan Fagúndez has scored or assisted in the last three matches.
