Week 7 of Liga MX is upon us, and we will have a new edition of the Clásico Nacional when América hosts Guadalajara.

But in addition to this derby, we will also have a great game, where Toluca, in third place, will expose its unbeaten record against Tijuana, in fourth place and with the same number of points.

There are two other unbeaten teams in the championship: Cruz Azul and Tigres. The former will visit León while the latter will host Atlético San Luis.

Tigres is second in the championship with four wins and two draws. Their last match was two weeks ago, and it was a 1-3 away win against Pumas with a double by Ozziel Herrera. With three goals conceded, they are one of the best defenses in the tournament, and the curious thing is that the team’s last two league defeats, both in the previous semester, were at home.

San Luis is seventh with 11 points, for now, in play-in positions. They have three wins, two draws, and two defeats, but away from home, they have fared very poorly, only getting one point from nine played. With 12 goals, they are the third highest-scoring team, and the Ivorian Franck Boli is the team’s top scorer with three goals. They have never been able to beat Tigres in the first division: five draws and five defeats.

Toluca is one of the best teams in the tournament and continues to reinforce its roster, as the arrival of Brazilian striker Helinho was confirmed in the last few days. The Diablos Rojos are undefeated, with four wins and two draws, and at home, they only know what it means to win. Paulinho has been the team’s star player with four goals and two assists, sharing the top of the scoring charts with three other players.

Tijuana has been one of the surprises of the tournament. They are in fourth place with 14 points, the same as Toluca, but have a game in hand. They are coming off a 2-1 win over León and have now gone four games undefeated for Juan Carlos Osorio’s team, and have in Raúl Zúñiga the team’s and the tournament’s top scorer.

The Clásico Nacional does not come at the best time for América. The team from the capital is in 12th place with six points after two draws and four defeats. They have lost their last two games, but the most recent one, where they were crushed by Cruz Azul (4-1), hurts the most. Henry Martin continues to be the team’s top scorer and has four goals.

Guadalajara is doing better than its rival. With 11 points, it is in sixth place. They have three wins, two draws, and one loss, and are coming from destroying Juárez, whom they beat 5-0. They have already played five times this year and Chivas only won once, but were eliminated on that occasion in the Concacaf Champions Cup, as well as losing in the semifinals of last year’s tournament.

León is the king of draws. They have not been able to win in the tournament, but have four draws and two defeats. At home, they have yet to lose but have lost four of the last five times Cruz Azul has visited them, and in the remaining, they got a 0-0 draw. They have only six goals and half of them have been scored by Venezuelan Jhonder Cadiz.

Cruz Azul is currently the best team in the Liga MX with five wins and one draw. In addition, their 15 goals make them the best attack, and their two goals against the best defense. They arrive motivated after crushing America in the previous game (4-1) and Greek Giorgos Giakoumakis has fit in nicely with three goals and two assists.
