Brasileirão Matchday 7 Roundup

Corinthians vs. Atlético Mineiro

Although the situation in Brazil has not yet normalized, the Brasileirão is slowly returning to its schedule in this 2024 season to give some joy to soccer fans going through complicated situations.

After seven rounds, we have Flamengo and Bahia stormed the first place in the table, displacing Paranaense, who had surprised many in this campaign, to the fifth place. On the other hand, Botafogo and São Paulo have also played well in recent weeks, leaving the battle for the top of the table with only a 1-point difference.

Bragantino, Palmeiras, and Internacional also won in their most recent matches, so the table is set for this season to have many contenders for the title.

Corinthians and Botafogo played a very intense match, defined by a few details. Although the home team had possession of the ball and generated more scoring chances, they were unable to overcome Botafogo’s defense, conceding the 0-1.

The first half of the match was a spectacular give and take, which led the teams to go into the break with a 0-0 scoreline. However, things changed quickly at the start of the second half, specifically in the 59th minute, when Júnior Santos scored the first and only goal of the match to give Botafogo a 1-0 victory.

There is no doubt that Corinthians deserved much more in this game, but if their offense does not wake up, we will be seeing a lot of scoreless matches.

Result: Corinthians (0) – (1) Botafogo

Vasco da Gama suffered a lot against Flamengo on matchday 7, as they not only lost at home butwere annihilated with a terrible score of 1-6.

The final score of this match says it all, as Flamengo was infinitely superior to Vasco da Gama. However, things did not start as we would have thought, as in the 9th minute, Pablo Vegetti scored 1-0 for Vasco da Gama, giving great confidence to his team at the beginning of the match.

However, the joy was short-lived, as Flamengo responded in minute 28′, equalizing the actions with a great goal by Éverton Sousa Soares. Then, 5 minutes later, they took the lead with a goal by Pedro Guilherme, while David Luiz scored the 3-1 in minute 43.

Before the break, Vasco da Gama suffered another hard blow when João Victor was sent off at minute 45+4′, so they had to play the whole second half with one man less on the field.

Precisely, in the last 45 Flamengo’s offense was phenomenal, scoring goals at 52′, 74′, and 89′, by Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Bruno Henrique, and Gabriel Barbosa, for a convincing 6-1 victory.

We enjoyed an even match at the MRV Arena between two determined teams with a good squad, Atlético Mineiro and Bahia, who shared the spoils with a 1-1 score.

As expected, Atlético Mineiro went all-out attacking from the start of the match, creating scoring chances at every turn. However, they were unable to overcome the defense and goalkeeper, so the first half ended with a dull 0-0 scoreline.

Then, in the second half, the teams stretched a little more and began to leave spaces that were exploited by their rivals. In minute 62′, Hulk scored the first goal to give Atlético Mineiro the lead, but 8 minutes later, Ademir da Silva got the equalizer.

The teams could not hurt each other more, but we enjoyed a spectacular back-and-forth in the closing stages of the game.

Things were very even in the first half, but the visitors had total control of the match. The Verdão had 23 chances to score but were only able to shoot at goal on five occasions. After the first 45 minutes, the game went to the break with a 0-0 score.

Then, in the second half, we started to see and enjoy goals, as in minute 67′, Gustavo Gómez scored Palmeiras’ first goal through a penalty kick. However, this joy lasted only seconds, as Criciúma managed to tie the match in minute 68′, with a great goal by Matheus Leonardo Sales.
