Inter vs. Lazio Preview and Betting Odds

We are down to the last two matchdays in the Italian Serie A, meaning that time has run over for the projects to achieve their objectives. In this sense, Lazio comes guns blazing to try and take over a Europa League spot, at least. The problem is that they must win everything left and, in front, they have the best team of the season, Inter Milan.

With Inter’s chances of breaking a points record banished after their loss to Sassuolo a couple of weeks ago, they are just playing for the sake of it. So, it’ll be fun to see how they fare in front of a strong, needy team.

When and Where?

Sunday, May 19, noon ET at San Siro

Moneyline odds:

Inter 1.697

Lazio 5.17

Draw Offs:

Where can I watch it?

Why Bet on Inter?

The hosts are just playing to enjoy the end of a successful season at Serie A. They have an 18-point lead ahead of the 2nd spot and also boast the best goal differential by over twice of the 2nd best team in that regard.

Although Inter won’t have the same mindset as when these two sides met in December (2-0 for Simone Inzaghi’s men at the Stadio Olimpico) and in January (a 3-0 win in Riyadh in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final), the game at San Siro remains very tricky for Lazio.

In fact, in 2024, the Biancocelesti have only won four of the thirteen matches they played against top sides, including European and domestic cups.

Inter have kept 21 clean sheets so far (11 of which are at San Siro) and are just one short of the record in Italy’s top flight. That could, surely, be a great achievement for players like Summer and Bastoni.

Why Bet on Lazio?

Lazio is the team that has something to fight for here. Since Igor Tudor got the job, they have massively improved, getting out of the mid-table mediocrity. The club is one point behind the Europa League spots and four from taking over a UEFA Champions League place.

Under Tudor, Lazio is playing at a higher intensity and only failed to score in two out of nine games. However, this is still a very limited squad that depends on some veteran players like Inmobile, Anderson, and Pedros. In particular, the difficulty in creating clear-cut chances is still evident.

The Biancocelesti have Italy’s seventh-best attack as visitors, and they’ve only scored twice in the five matches played against teams occupying the first six positions of the table.

Final Betting Analysis: Inter vs. Lazio

This clash is interesting because, even though the hosts have no real reasons to win, they have a record they could be hit by keeping a clean sheet.

Lazio has to go through the top team here and have excellent luck, as they are facing relegation-destined Sassuolo afterward, which could get them to the UEFA Champions League. They still depend on the results of other teams, so their way to the maximum European competition is full of spines.

There is a historic paternity in favor of the Nerazurri in this duel, and more importantly, they have won four of the last five games, the only exception being a win for the Aquile at the Olimpico in 2022.

The Romans are a dangerous team any given day, but in a blue-painted San Siro, they’ll fall 2-1.

Go for a victory for the locals at 1.697. If you bet $100 at such odds, you could get $69.7 for a total payout of $169.7.
