Fernando Gago’s Chivas does not play badly, but they keep going without a win in the Clausura 2024 by drawing 1-1 with the Xolos de Tijuana. In a tight game night, the people from Guadalajara gave away some time.

The ‘Rebaño’ has 2 points out of 9 disputed, they had a bad first half that went to the Xolos, and in the second one, the Guadalajara team was different. In the end, both goalkeepers saved their teams from losing. Both teams became way more aggressive near the end of the game, as José Castillo tried Chivas’ second with a shot that Rodríguez took down in the 68th minute in what was Chivas’ best moment.

Raúl Zúñiga put the visitors in trouble in the 73rd minute by shooting from one side, after settling the ball and releasing the shot from one side. That gave life to the Xolos, who sought victory. González made a free throw that Rangel took down. On the corner kick, Zúñiga shot, and the goalkeeper responded.

At 85th, Fernando Madrigal lowered the ball from his chest and hit it directly so that Tala Rangel deflected again. Before the final whistle, Alvarado came close to giving Chivas three points by finishing in luxury. The final part was a battle but with no more goals, so points were divided.

With Brandon Vázquez on fire, Monterrey found a way to defeat Atlético de San Luis (3-1) and remain undefeated in the Clausura MX 2024. Fernando Ortiz’s squad took advantage of the rival’s defensive spaces and, with a little bit of luck at the beginning, managed to keep their goal at zero.

Gustavo Leal’s team jumped onto the royal court without fear and demonstrated it with a couple of chances that put the goal of Andrada at risk. The goalkeeper was vital in preventing the fall of his goal. It was just when Rayados looked worse on the court that the scoring opened, after a shot by Brandon Vázquez, who gained position to shoot at (minute 15).

The Pandilla’s advantage was short-lived and found an answer from the feet of Mateo Klimowicz, who equalized with a shot from his left foot (32th). With the tie, Atlético de San Luis took control of the ball, but a poor defensive start was taken advantage of by Brando Vázquez, who scored his double at (minute 39). The perfect night of the striped squad was completed with the goal of the Spanish Sergio Canales who, with a shot outside the area, left the goalkeeper without a chance and sealed the match at the 56th.

Goodbye, perfect start for America. André Jardine’s team took to the Victoria Stadium field to finish 0-0 against Necaxa. Thus, they reached ten units, the product of three victories and a draw. The Águilas came into the duel against the ‘Electricos’ with a perfect pace, after having defeated Xolos and Juárez as visitors, as well as Querétaro at home.

For their part, the ‘Rayos’ won at home against Atlas and then won in a foreign court against Puebla. It was a clash of undefeated teams that, in the end, maintained that condition.

A couple of expulsions, of Richard Sánchez and Diber Cambindo, ended up affecting the match. In the end, Julián Quiñones had the winning goal for América within his reach, but his header crashed into the post.

Tigres remained undefeated on matchday three of the Clausura MX 2024 against Querétaro. All this, despite Guido Pizarro’s own goal and a missed penalty by Nico Ibáñez, both in the first half.

In the 24th minute, Fernando Gorriarán headed in a corner kick looking for the far post but was meters away from the goal. It was the second chance for the Uruguayan scorer in front of the rival goal. A minute later, when Tigres was putting more pressure, Guido Pizarro made an error in his goal when, while trying to cut off a harmless center from Facundo Batista, at grass level, he ended up putting the ball into the first post.

In the 35th minute, Tigres made a mistake again at the start, giving the ball to Pablo Ortiz, who twice tried to shoot Nahuel Guzmán from the wing, but his shot went wide. Five minutes later, Raúl Sandoval committed a flagrant handball in the area, resulting in the penalty being awarded. Nico Ibáñez took the ball, but Fernando Tapia held on and lunged to make a one-handed save.

The second half presented the same dynamic with imprecise centers and inconsequential plays. At 53′, Juan Brunetta tried to hit a delayed center in the heart of the area with his first intention, but his contact was defective, which generated boos from La Corregidora.

From the 70th minute onwards, the game was ‘broken’ and, almost, Diego Lainez gave Tigres the tie with a right hand in the large area that crashed into Tapia’s post. Six minutes later, Vigón, Ibáñez, and Ozziel Herrera combined in the area for him to finish the final 1-1.
