The opening game of matchday 33 of the Brasileirão was also the game with the most goals. Red Bull Bragantino and Athletico dueled at the Nabib Abi Chedid stadium, in São Paulo, and played a game worthy of the Brasileirão: many goals and many emotions. The hosts beat Athletico 4-2 and remained in 13th position, while the rivals dropped to 6th place.
Flamengo continued their winning streak and beat América Mineiro, away from home, by 2-1. Even after being champion of the Copa do Brasil on Wednesday, Flamengo had enough strength to win again in the national league and remain in 3rd position in the Brasileirão. Even with the defeat, América remained in 7th.
Corinthians visited Santos at the Vila Belmiro stadium and left with a meager but important victory: 1-0. Róger Guedes scored the goal that helped Corinthians return to 4th position in the league table; Santos is in 12th position.
Brasileirão Matchday 33 – Roundup and Results
Palmeiras was once again overwhelming and beat Avaí 3-0. There are only five rounds left for Palmeiras to become champion of the Brasileirão, but this could happen even in the next game if the difference in points from Internacional increases.
Fluminense and Botafogo also played an excellent match, which ended with a score of 2-2. Botafogo scored the first two goals of the match, but allowed Fluminense to react, which equalized in the final minutes. A match full of rivalry; a real roller coaster.
Atlético Goianiense won the confrontation against Ceará, seeking to escape the relegation zone. Lucas Gazal was responsible for scoring the only goal of the match, reducing the difference in points for Ceará to just one unit. With five rounds to go in the Brasileirão, Coritiba, Ceará, and Atlético Goianiense try to win their last matches to remain in the first division of national football.
