The Best Contenders – Layback Pro – 2022 Surf – Men’s & Women’s
Top 2 Men’s
- Wiggolly Dantas
The veteran Brazilian surfer Wiggolly Dantas arrives at this Layback Pro 2022 with the firm conviction of showing all the attendees and the world of surfing, that he is still the great surfer who was for 5 consecutive years playing the Championship Tour, specifically, from 2014 to 2018.
Dantas comes from being part of the Challenger Series in 2021, where he managed to play 4 events. However, he did not have much luck since his best presentation was in the Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold Haleiwa Challenger. There he got the #17 position and added 2200 points.
- Ian Gouveia
Another of the experienced surfers who will say he is present at this LayBack Pro 2022 and who is also a former Championship Tour contender, Ian Gouveia, arrives with the mission of showing why he is one of the favorites to win this tournament. Thus return after 4 years, to the Championship Tour.
The best result obtained by Gouveia in 2021 was the #17 position in the MEO Vissla Pro Ericeira. There he also scored 2000 points.
Top 2 Women’s
- Daniella Rosas
The 19-year-old Peruvian and one of the best surfers in Latin America, Daniella Rosas, arrives at this LayBack Pro 2022, with the firm conviction of fulfilling her dream of scoring many points and being able to be, very shortly, disputing a season on the Championship Tour.
Rosas had a very good year in 2021, where thanks to his excellent participation in the QS, particularly the first place in the Corona Salinas Open presented by Hyundai New Tucson 2022, she was able to play a full season in the Challenger Series. However, she did not have much luck in the 4 tournaments he participated in.
- Tania Hinckel
Finally, we have the Brazilian Tania Hinckel, another of the promises of surfing in Brazil who comes with the confidence of being able to play another very good year in the QS, which will allow her to climb the Challenger Series and thus return to the Women’s Championship Tour, for the first time since 2019.
Tania achieved very good results in 2021, the best of them was 5th place in the Corona Montañita Open presented by Hyundai New Tucson 2022.
