Spring Training March 28th: Astros vs. St Cardinals
The Astros claimed the American League championship for the third time in five seasons after 7 months of vitriol from throughout the sport but fell two victories short of a redemptive World Series championship.
However, the window for them to win another title did not close completely.
Eight of their 9 everyday position players, as well as a burgeoning young starting pitching core, are expected to return in 2022.
It’ll be necessary to fill Carlos Correa’s void at shortstop, but the return of Justin Verlander to the front of the rotation gives Houston one of the AL’s strongest pitching staff.
The Cardinals are currently 5-2 in the GLC, with a .714 team batting average and 0.5 games behind first place, with 31 runs scored and 35 runs allowed for a -4 run differential this spring practice.
St. Louis was unable to contain Miami’s bats as the Fish scored six runs in the first inning of their recent game, while the Cardinals managed just two runs on six base hits in their 2-9 loss.
While the Astros are guaranteed to be in contention for a title, the team’s expectations appear to be a touch too high, but they are our betting pick for this match.
Spring Training March 28th: Blue Jays vs. Braves
The Blue Jays are determined to claim the victory this year.
Consider the goosebumps that American League East pitchers will experience every time the top of the hitting order is reached.
Springer, Bichette, and Guerrero Jr. had a combined total of 99 home runs and 458 hits in 2021.
And that’s with only 78 matches under their belt. When you add in Teoscar Hernandez’s 32 home runs and 116 RBIs, you have a pitcher’s nightmare.
The defending World Series champions, the Atlanta Braves, will be looking to repeat their dominance in the 2022 MLB season.
Atlanta concluded the season with an 88-73 record, however, they were able to win the World Series after defeating the Houston Astros in six matches.
The most bizarre aspect of Atlanta’s World Series victory is that they were without Ronald Acuna Jr for the majority of the season due to an ACL rupture.
Acuna is one of baseball’s top players. As a result, the Braves’ main worry was finding men who could step up.
Expect to see a lot of right-handed pitchers against the Jays.
Except for Freddie Freeman and a few other important players, Atlanta will retain most of its core players, and that may be key in this match, making them our betting pick.
Spring Training March 28th: Giants vs. Brewers
The Brewers are slowing down from that excellent start they have had, going from 4 straight wins to 4 wins, 4 losses, and a draw so far in their spring training run.
The Giants are coming in with 3 wins and 6 losses so far, so they are not looking as sharp.
These teams faced each other exactly a week ago and the Brewers took a 13-6 win, and we expect them to take another victory later today.
